True, after the sewer part I didn’t care for the level design. Wish they kept the marshaling yard instead of a hybrid of the Hive from the movie... lol

The sewer this time around felt way more fleshed out. In the original, I think Kamiya was asleep at the wheel when they decided on what to do with it. It's just a shitty version of the guardhouse from the original. The trilogy all operates the same way, with four areas you go through.

Mansion - Guardhouse - Mansion/Courtyard - Lab

RPD - Sewer - Marshaling Yard - Lab

Streets/RPD - Clocktower - Park - Dead Factory

Last night I did my Leon 2nd run on Hardcore... and it kinda evolved into a no save run and I fucking got killed after getting the wrist chip in the Ivy room... I had like 20 minutes of game left...

Yeah those Ivy’s are no joke... I usually like to have some extra self defense items on me or flame rounds. With Leon I make sure to save to fuel...

I have done pretty good with not getting attacked except when it’s some stupid situation when you make a wrong turn or you were slow on dodging the zombie run grasp.

What got me was X punching me dead. I went in there with no health items but had three knives. I next to never have trouble.

Early in the game I did really well until X teleported to the art room above the library right in the fucking door way and punches me back into the library.

You'll be missing quite a bit of backstory if you didn't play the first game to a degree. There's a few call backs, specifically to the characters of the first game. You could buy the first one on whatever network you're on for fairly cheap, and honestly I think that one is a better remake anyway but I'd still highly recommend this one.

The first one is kinda rough for beginners. It’s the better Remake though. I did enjoy this one, but it’s not perfect. There’s some novelties to the gameplay, that didn’t transition over from the REmake, that kind of brought down the experience to a degree.

I feel REmake 2 would be hard for a beginner. It was tough for a bunch of vets since the zombies are bull sponges and you have to get used to their behavior of bobbing and weaving and playing dead.

It’s actually the easier one. Have you seen people try to play the older games? They’re so terrible at them. The camera angles and controls are what I’m referring to most.

I’ve never had a problem with either.

Okay, I lied. It was ridiculous in Code Veronica.

Definitely pick up the first remake first, titled simply "Resident Evil" on current gen consoles. It's a 2002 remake of the original that came out for the Gamecube. Picking this RE2 remake first would definitely make the first game harder to go back to since it has fixed cameras and tank controls.

As for story, it's not Silent Hill- they're all pretty stupid and camp and they're just there to lend to the atmosphere and set pieces.

man, that’s the reason i haven’t gotten into RE, i just don’t like tank controls  is there an option for RE1 to have regular controls or no?

There’s also RE Zero remastered that has analog too if you like those two a lot. Although Zero is kinda meh plot wise but looks as pretty as RE remastered. It’s set the day before the original game.

the first couple are mostly just zombie enemy types right? i’ve seen some trailers for the new(er) games and that’s what turned me off to begin with was all the crazy anime monster type enemies

Zero mostly has big things of things that already exist. Bugs mostly. The zombies are very unemphasized and unthreatnening. They’ll go down in a few shots... where as in RE remaster if you don’t burn their bodies they revive in a feral state.

Zero also intersects with locations from the PS1 version of RE2.
