Seeing lukewarm reception to 4make. It's a soulless new coat of paint on the original.
Not with all the additional useless dialog that go literally nowhere, race bending, and LGBT stuff. As much as I don't like RE3R, and RE4R so far, at least when CAPCOM changes something it doesn't feel like an obvious "inclusion" just for the sake of itDead Space feels kind of the same way.
Well, they did cover Ashley up in a burka and removed Luis's titty thirst. Not with all the additional useless dialog that go literally nowhere, race bending, and LGBT stuff. That's only part of it. From what I've been reading, it's very soulless and has none of the charm of the original. Just another sterile remake with no soul.Dead Space feels kind of the same way. Two games that just need a huge graphical overhaul and that’s it.

I mean everyone loves Ada, Ashley...not so much though I've noticed a lot more apologists and defenders (mostly cosplayers...................) so making Ada have more appeal and downplaying Ashley sure. Doubly so since Ashley is much younger then Leon so Capcom would get major shit about it. Believe me.Well, they did cover Ashley up in a burka and removed Luis's titty thirst.
But then Ada goes up a few cup sizes. It's like there's an internal tug of war at Capcom.

You can just play the HD project version which looks incredible.RE4 didn't even need a graphical overhaul.
I liked Dead Space remake a lot, gameplay wise. Some part of me feels like it actually needed more time though since a few side missions and chapters felt like it wasn't at full potential.
I've always thought the Ashley hate was overblown. Just her one scream is annoying, but it's so bad that I'm nostalgic for it now.I mean everyone loves Ada, Ashley...not so much though I've noticed a lot more apologists and defenders (mostly cosplayers...................) so making Ada have more appeal and downplaying Ashley sure. I'm sadly not surprised that RE4make lacks a lot of RE4's charm. It feels weird with how it was trying to be different with story, tone and certain places but the village gauntlet didn't feel much different. If anything just not as fun
My point exactly sadly. You can just play the HD project version which looks incredible.
I go both ways on the hate. Having to manage another character in an escort mission isn't fun, and her screams do...grate. But I think she adds to the tension and horror because she has to be protected because she's so vulnerable so you're not just worrying about yourself, it's you and Ashley. People said the fact that you had to protect Sheva in RE5 was tense. No??????? Sheva is as capable as you and can protect you, which I always found removed so much from the game's atmosphere.I've always thought the Ashley hate was overblown. She's fine as an escort when you understand the mechanics of how she works. But for a first timer she's brutal to deal with.I go both ways on the hate. If anything, Ashley dying instantly to anything Leon does is the worst aspect because it's a weird intentional design choice. Beyond that, most people who say Ashley wasn't a problem try to say everyone just sucks at the game and it's clear they're just grasping lmao
At this point it's just making sure not to shoot Ashley for me, because of the few times she has to go solo such as the water room. It's still stupid how she can get hit by the same stuff as Leon, a trained professional in potential body armor....but die if his bullet grazes her leg. Ultimately, she's fine now. If anything I prefer her over Sheva. She's fine as an escort when you understand the mechanics of how she works. But for a first timer she's brutal to deal with.
I wouldn't say she's cute in the remake. She looks too old to be in college. At this point it's just making sure not to shoot Ashley for me, because of the few times she has to go solo such as the water room. One thing in RE4make I feel with Ashley's new look. It feels like they're trying to make Ashley much more cutesy? Perhaps it's with the changed script but she doesn't have the occasional spunk she had in og RE4 and she seems...more scared at points. Compare with Ada who seems more in line with RE2make and mainline Ada.
It seems more like they aimed for her to be more cutesy-esque. Compared to Ada and the other ladies anyway who have the same visual vibes as they did.I wouldn't say she's cute in the remake. She looks too old to be in college.
Water room is complete ass. I'm playing through it again on the weekends and I got stuck in there for several retries. Although, I like the fact that the area is still difficult and isn't something you can just walk through. Even speedrunners hate it since there's a lot of RNG.
I called it lol
Interesting point on PS4, may make sense. I got my PS5 Collector's Edition today and I don't even know if I want to keep it. The values on those skyrocketed so it's really enticing. I sold my PS4 RE2make CE and got back more then what I paid along with getting to keep my copy that came with it. Trying to get some money back on some other purchases I made so I may just get a regular copy of RE4make.Playing it now. He does move heavy as shit but it’s not terrible. It’s better than 2make thus far. The village siege I did in one go. At a distance they move at half speed like the other two games… I wonder if it’s a PS4 thing.
