The YouTube advertisement with the actor who plays Chris was chock full of cringe. “It’s like playing the game.”

No it’s not. No one involved with this has played more than ten minutes of any of the games and it shows. Probably more so than the older films. Taking set pieces and a few characters and then tossing consistency out the window with the rest is not accurate at all.

This movie is legitimately going to make the older films shine brighter. I can’t believe I’m even saying that, considering I really only like the first two films, Afterlife and—to a point—Final Chapter. And even those are flawed.

This is not going to be another Mortal Kombat 2021. Even though that was a decent movie, the original film still holds up to it. The sequel obviously sucks pretty hard though—there’s no saving it.
