Lol, that would be me... so decided to try Orangetheory and have a trainer teach me instead of looking like an idiot. At least my goal isn’t too extreme basically lose some body fat and toned up some. Tired of being “skinny fat”. Lol plus, it doesn’t hurt be active....

Even when my bodyfat is low, I can't shake the tail end of skinny fat. It's not hard to build muscle in the first year.

I decided to join Orangetheory fitness and see if I see any results... kinda pricey but having a trainer there will keep on track and make sure I’m working out correctly. Unlike working out from home or going to other gyms were I just spend my time on my phone or not knowing what I’m actually doing, lol.
Good for you! Stick with it 👍

Haven't worked out a month and a half now... been dealing with nerve pain in both arms and forearm pains. Although I might be figuring out what the issue is. I definitely have adhesion's in the tissues of my forearms. I was unable to grip anything really without immense pain, but now it's not nearly as bad. Also been dealing with pain above the elbow and I think it's pinched nerves, either in my neck, collarbone or pec minor, all are sites for thoracic outlet syndrome.

I'm going to try and lift Sunday but start light again. I haven't lost all my size, so that's good at least. I need to stay away from a few lifting grips since it will aggravate my forearm, primarily overhand stuff.

Snake my man, I feel for you.....all of this sounds too familiar to me. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this, take care of yourself and don’t push! Also take it easy on triceps, no more overhead exercises and forget about pull ups, and lift light...oh and no forearms or reverse grip curls. I mean of course only you know what works for you just giving tips that have helped my destroyed husk still be able to lift lightly. Best of luck and hope you’re pain free sooner than later

Yeah I'm going to readjust anything that requires overhead grip. I'll ease in to doing chin ups with underhand. I found a therapist on YT that pretty much described my issue and said pullups can be a contributing factor. It's odd since I did add good size to my forearms but I guess it became pissed off anyway.

When I started getting forearm pain years ago, it specifically stemmed from pullups and I even knew when I did it. It's been gone for years but now it's back, but at least I have a good idea how to treat it. I literally went through a dozen doctors and they couldn't determine it.

Yeah man the doctors are a joke! When I was suffering in 2016 they kept dismissing it and tried something called dry needling (don’t do it by the way, messed up my left peck forever) until they finally realized my c5-7 were all herniated...I did 20 pull-ups last week just to see if I could and then lost feeling in my left hand for three days...I’m now officially retired from pull ups. I won’t dare workout forearms cause that’s guaranteed pain and it doesn’t matter how strong your forearms are, mine were massive, and still got destroyed. It gets depressing that’s for sure

Yeah I got some disc trouble. I had a MRI earlier in the year and they only found some calicifaction on a tendon. They did say years ago I had degeneration on C5, but that wouldn't affect every nerve in my arm. I think it's more trigger point based than anything.

Yeah degenerative discs are inevitable, if it’s been years since your mri maybe another wouldn’t hurt. I hope it’s a simple fix man 🤜🤛

I'll ease into it next week. I just need to stay on top of breaking down tight spots. I'm going to be in pain when I start probably, but I'll just need to work around it.

I was going to start last week but couldn't. I was still dealing with bad forearm pain... but some good news. I've finally figured out what was causing it. I have a bunch of muscle adhesions throughout my forearms. I did a deep myofacial release myself and it was maybe 50% better after first time. So many spots were white hot to massage. Now, it's pretty manageable. Most of my pain is where the brachioradialis inserts above the elbow. I have some nerve pain, but that could be either from my neck or in my forearms, since I've read adhesions can do the same thing as a cervical radiculopathy.

So right now, I do plan on starting this Sunday for sure. I just need to keep breaking the tight spots down. I couldn't even function when it was really bad.

There will be a little pain, but at least I can function. I'm dealing with a bad cold right now that's causing more trouble than anything else right now.

Eh, wasn't able to start yet. I know I've said this before, but I think I figured out the problem.

Tennis elbow. I've been treating it as such and my symptoms have been consistently better for over a week now. I did have some golfers elbow symptoms as well so I've been treating that too. I've read that it could cause nerve pain symptoms since the inflammation or scar tissue can entrap nerves, so this sorta checks out. I do think however I can start up relatively soon.

I've only really been doing cross fiber massage on the tendons and strength work. As I understand it, when it heals over with scar tissue without proper management... it breaks open very easily. I did have a few days of no symptoms and it came back again. But ever since I've been doing my routine every other day, my symptoms are maybe a 1/3 of what they were.

I was getting burning in my elbows all of a sudden and that's what made me figure out what it really was. I had a doctor's appointment Friday so I'm going to run everything by him. He'll send me to a therapist but I don't even think I need it since I know what I'm doing finally and I have all the equipment.

Well sorry to hear you haven’t been able to start yet but I’m glad you’re feeling better. I hope the doctors can help you, my experience with physical therapy (at least at kaiser) is its a joke and a waste of time. Maybe your doctor can order an mri? Is the doctor a specialist? if not maybe ask to be referred to one. Good luck brotha tendon and nerve and joint pain is so terrible; especially when you love to lift.

Just a regular doctor. My old family doctor retired and this is a new guy. Most therapists I've gone to in the past for other thing were never really good.
