That’s awesome you guys! The biggest problem I’ve ever had was portion control. I liked to make sure I had enough food to fuel muscle growth. But I’m realizing I need to just be smarter with the amount of food. I snack less, but eat mostly in evenings (which really is the worst time).

There’s this twig guy with a beer gut that comes into the gym regularly with his wife. He loaded up leg press yesterday and acted so pumped that he could press full plates on both sides of leg press. I was embarrassed for him! His body looks like shit and he can’t figure out that doing tons of weight ain’t going to do anything for him. He’s going to treat his keens and shoulders up. He’s the guy that gets google-eyed when other guys turn a lot of weights.

After I started watching Athlean-X & Miami Muscle Fitness, those guys have really helped me learn the truth about lifting. But so many people just go I. There’s and try to press as much as they can.

There's so many videos of retards doing that shit. No idea what they're doing and they're putting 800lbs on the leg press and have their buddies sit on it. I love the videos where they stupidly lock out and their legs fold back. It feeds my soul.

Nice snake! Glad it’s working out for you and you’re getting the results you want. I’ve always preferred the rope to the v bar, the rope is so much more versatile.

Zod congrats that’s a great accomplishment 👍

I get a way better contraction with it. I always let ego get in the way since I need to go lighter with it... but it's the results that count and not ego bullshit.

That's fucking awesome! I cut out Coke, energy drinks, and stopped eating pizza 3-4 times a week. Then I just worked on portion control. I was dropping 1-2 pounds per week consistently with just those few adjustments. I'm not going to have the body I did in my 20's, but I'm getting closer than I thought I ever would after two decades.

It's very easy to make the switch to just drinking water. I hardly ever crave any sugary drinks anymore. It's either water, or coffee once or twice a day. Although I like an occasional ginger ale. I'd like to trim 10lbs off by the summer. I'm 169 right now.

My problem is Saturdays where I take a day off and eat too much junk. I need to eat more, and clean and only cheat for dinner.

Hmm well I disagree with it being wrong to load the leg press with a lot of weight. If you can do 10-12 reps with 800+ lbs and with a full range or movement (not some lame little 1/8” of movement) then it’s beneficial to growth and strength. Legs are a huge muscle and need to be pushed hard...of course if it’s too heavy for the person then it shouldn’t be done until they have built to that level, also you will get hemorrhoids pressing a ton 😰

If you got full range of motion that's different and not what I'm talking about.

I'm talking about jerkoffs like this.

I've been lifting weights for about 11 years or so now but really only really starting training properly since 2015 with my old man. I stay around his and train with him 3-4 times a week since there's a gym within walking distance from his place luckily. I used to do just Mondays and Fridays with him and that really wasn't getting me enough results for my physique, so we started doing more days and I've bulked up quite a bit over the last year or two. He's basically passing on what he learned when he started lifting in his 30s and got jacked up. It's weird because I'm taller and bigger than him now but I don't come close to the size of him when he was in his prime. He's in his mid 60s but still keeps in relatively good shape despite his knee and shoulder being fucked. Best type of trainer I could ask for really.

I don't do as much cardio though as I find 20-30 minutes on the cross trainer or running machine just boring - if I can do a circuit or a core and ab class that gets me moving and sweating, I much rather do that to be honest. They say building muscle is the best way of targeting
fat and doing too much cardio burns away all your muscles.

My diet is a bit inconsistent though and I probably drink too much diet soda which although not deadly, it can lead to binge eating.

He sounds like what I want to be at his age. The best thing to do to keep yourself from being a frail mess at that age is to do some kinda strength work. Strengthens the joints and the heart. Cardio is a pain. I'm trying to bring bodyfat down and build at the same time, so I need to eat more and then burn a good portion off. I did an hour on the bike this morning and 20 minutes before dinner, both between light and medium resistance. It said I did in total 18 miles which is a new record for me.

The more muscle size you have, the easier to burn calories since your body needs to burn more just to sustain it. Just sitting on your ass burns calories, which is why you get hungrier faster, plus your metabolism kicks in. I adjusted my diet recently since I was getting too low in calories and with cardio, it was less then 1,000. With that, your body just keeps fat on since you're essentially starving your body.

DROP THE DIET SODA! (n) It's terrible for you. It's not hard to drink just water. I used to drink it when I started dieting, but it just tastes like shit. My main diet issues right now like I mentioned earlier, is fucking up every Saturday.

Can't say I'm anything much to look at but come this June, it would be my first year anniversary of working out consistently. On top of that, it has been over six month since I've quit smoking and I feel really awesome.

It's only wrong depending on the person, which is most people TBH. t's a bad idea when you focus more on how many plates you can do, rather than what your quads are capable of. I see the issue being more of guys who want that mental confidence of watching them (incorrectly) move too much weight. One has to mix up the training in adding metabolic burn training mixed with heavier weight to activate all of your supportive muscles. Moji Oluwa is a >30x natural body building champ. His leg workouts are sick and yet call for adequate weight (not too light, not too much). The guy I was referring to had no business loading it up like he did. He's an injury waiting to happen. He will learn soon lol

When I was lifting years ago the science behind physical fitness was already disregarding heavy lifting as a thing of the past. I'm amazed people still focus on it. When you see someone pushing eight hundred or more pounds it's because they've worked up to it and thats what stresses their individual muscle tissue to the point of gains. It doesnt mean a guy whos a hundred and eighty pounds with a year under his belt should be doing the same.

Did chest this morning. Trimmed off 10-15% of my weight to focus on form and range of motion. I got into the habit of never going behind my body with either presses and flyes... and I believe that's why I haven't made my chest symmetrical since I'm focusing on weight and short changing reps. Doing it the way I did it today, my chest is already sore from the workout and it's not even 24 hours yet. Going below the shoulders can be dangerous if you're not careful, but I just do it for the stretch and pause for a second and come up. It was waaaay harder than usual and my chest was on fire. I was primarily contracting my left since it's lagging behind the right which is incredibly common.

Good to see so many people making changes for the better in here.

Like many of you, I too drank too much pop and that was something I changed last year. Just went cold turkey and after a week (yes, it was that fast), I didn’t even miss it anymore. It’s surprising how easy it is to give up some things.

I still need to have pizza at least once a week though lol.

@Thainitty, it’s cool there’s another MT practitioner in the house! I guess it explains the Adon avy too

How long have you been doing it, as you mentioned you were just ‘getting back’ to it? Sorry to hear about the black eye, was that with headgear on? I haven’t gotten a black eye yet, but I’m icing something or the other pretty much every week lol

It's way easier than you think to just stick with water, and you're proof of that.

The eye was an sucker punch at work by some nutcase. It's fine, I'm probably going to get a new house from it since I'm still dealing with daily pain but I tolerate it. The eye doctor today suggested a cold mask to ease my eye muscles.

If you're not working out, a pizza a week won't kill you. Removing soda alone will make you lose weight. My primary goal right now is to get cut before my vacation. I started back up in March after the bulk of my eye injury resolved. I was going to start in February of that week but than this shit happened. I'm athletic all over except my damn lower back fat. It's the last place for fat to go on a man typically.

I trained a lot last year but when I got back from vacation I got so lazy and took off a few months, and wish I didn't now. It's fine since I still have nearly 3 months of training to go and I'm already noticeably larger. I have more time this year before vacation than last year since I was dealing with neck issues and started this time last year. If you gained any previous size, your body regrows it twice as fast than the first time.

I measured my arms last night and my right is less than a half inch bigger than my left at 14.5 inches. I know that's almost puny, but that's pretty good for two and a half months work. I hope I can get into the 15s by August.

Yeah it is cool to find others who love Muay Thai and yup that’s why my avy and the name Thainitty ;) well I trained from 1996 to 2000 under Richard Batin (total bad ass and was like a father to me) he moved away for family reasons and I felt like it wasn’t right to train with anyone else...then life got in the way and a million years passed and then after weight lifting was so painful I couldn’t enjoy it I said “hey, I should train again” I’ve been training again for about a year. It’s so great, after the rust came off it feels so natural and I feel so happy when I train.

The black eye it happens from time to time, I never spar with head gear I just don’t like it. Luckily my head and my shins are still hard as rocks 😂 sometimes if I’m tired or my neck and shoulders are hurting my heads not in the game until I get cracked a good one and then I remember my head movement. How long have you trained BP3k? If you were in SoCal I’d say we should train together sometime!

I work for the civil court in my city . Security has always been a joke and finally someone got hurt, me. I got an attorney going after the security company since I have permanent damage in my eye. I can see fine but not as clear and I get headaches a lot now. I had to get my lid sewn up too.

Did legs yesterday and my calves have been on fire since, and I did about two hours of walking two and from the mall. My calves have always been a weak point with me, but I upped the weight and did four sets of twenty five and it seems to have worked.

Today was back and in total I've gotten my wide deadhang pullups to 20. Not in a row, like 8-6-5-4. I try for ten reps and when I cannot finish it, I get a stool to prop myself up and do the negative motion under my own power.
