I've been immersed into bodybuilding again the last month and a half or so. I'm going on vacation in August so I got a good buffer to get big again. I got about 70% of what my strength was. My main issue is I want to lose bodyfat. I'm trying my best to do as much cardio as possible, but I think I need to cut more food out.

Did back yesterday and somehow banged out 7 wide dead hang pull-ups in a row. I’ve never jump in numbers that quickly. Maybe I haven’t been pushing myself hard enough.

Today was chest and I did abs after. It really is true that muscles bounce back quickly to previous strength. This article explains it pretty well on how it's easier to rebuild than build from nothing.

Tomorrow is just cardio. I'm actually about to get on my bike now and do a half hour. I don't really track calories but I know I'm getting under 2,000 a day. I used to get around 2,300-2,500 and I just got fat from it. I'm too carb sensitive. I used to be so lean and it's hard to get back to 8% fat.

I've been watching a lot of this channel lately since Lee Priest (IFBB pro from years ago) answers YT questions or just random bodybuilding topics. He never won the Olympia but he's got a big fan base due to his personality and attitude. He won a contest in 2013 his early 40s which is really impressive. Most pros careers are done in their mid 30s.

I like him a lot since he doesn't mince words and his very frank about pro bodybuilding and how he used gear. I hate fake natties.

I don't know how guys out there wait 2-3 hours between meals. I usually eat every hour and twenty minutes since I'm starving so quickly. Plus, I'm eating less per meal since I'm trying to cut.

Glad to hear you’re having a good comeback snake! Man I miss body building so much....but after too many injuries I had to give it up....but I’ve been back in Muay Thai for about a year now and loving it! I feel like I’m 16 again except slower, heavier, and in more pain 😂

Injuries suck. I had a chronic elbow pain years ago that no one could diagnose. Went through a dozen doctors and nada. I think it was a pull and it was scar tissue... and you know what stopped it? Lifting again.

My main deal right now is just overtight traps, which causes referred shoulder pain.

Oh yeah elbow pain is miserable! Mine is mostly related to scar tissue in my shoulders and my stupid herniated disc in my neck....but after an epidural I’m good to go (for a while). I think with me and lifting I always end trying to get back to heavy lifting and it messes me up, fighting for some reason doesn’t really seem to bother my neck much

Super heavy lifting is always a gateway to injury. I learned it the hard way. I just try to lift a weight I can manage until the end of the sets and it starts to get too difficult.

Yeah that’s the smart way for sure, I’ll probably try lifting a little after my injection

Yesterday was my first legs in a while and their so goddamn sore. I haven't trained them since I got back into it since Ioathe it. They used to be so thick and my working weight was my bodyweight and my deadlifts were more than that. I just want somewhat muscular legs with minimal effort.

I did shoulders this morning and just finished forearms. I haven't done forearm workouts in so long since I just left it up to curls and pullups to develop them.

Elbow pain can often be caused by one’s biceps not being strong enough to leverage the counterweight or counterforce, so I can see why lifting helped.

I started developing a bit of tennis elbow when I first started boxing/Muay Thai as well, and after everyone telling me there’s no cure but rest I stumbled onto someone talking about that.

Lo and behold, after a month of lifting heavy my tennis elbow was cured.

You’d think doctors or kinesiologists would know this but nope.

Glad to hear you got through it though Snake.

Much like Thainitty I find fighting to be the best, I’ve never been in better shape since I started, and with all the core work involved my lower back hasn’t felt this good in years either. I’d say it’s a full on 90% reduction, which I would never have thought possible just 6 months ago.

It also does all kinds of good for your mindset I find, so I do that 4 times per week, and lift twice on the weekend

Oh yeah leg days are killer! And the next couple days after are brutal but I always loved leg day!

BP3k, nice man! Glad fighting was a relief for you too! I agree besides helping my body and causing way less pain than lifting it is good for the mind! Plus you really bond with people that you train and fight with.

Well....I have not been sparring as well since my neck started acting up again (I’m hesitating) and caught myself a nice black eye for it 🤷‍♂️ dang these injury free people I train with

I've been making good strength gains by shortening my rest periods. I need to shorten up my chest rest time since I think I've been waiting too long. I typically waited a minute and a half between sets but I want to bring it down to 60 seconds max. I've gotten stronger regardless and I'm almost back to my old working weight. My arms have made pretty big gains. I switched my Tricep pressdown from a V bar to a rope since the bar gives me pain in my hands and shoulders and I don't get a good pump.

There’s this twig guy with a beer gut that comes into the gym regularly with his wife. He loaded up leg press yesterday and acted so pumped that he could press full plates on both sides of leg press. I was embarrassed for him! His body looks like shit and he can’t figure out that doing tons of weight ain’t going to do anything for him. He’s going to treat his keens and shoulders up. He’s the guy that gets google-eyed when other guys turn a lot of weights.

After I started watching Athlean-X & Miami Muscle Fitness, those guys have really helped me learn the truth about lifting. But so many people just go I. There’s and try to press as much as they can.

I've been watching what I eat since the beginning of the year and have dropped 26.5 pounds. My goal was to get to 175 before my birthday in June, and I've gone from 202.5 down to 176.

Nice snake! Glad it’s working out for you and you’re getting the results you want. I’ve always preferred the rope to the v bar, the rope is so much more versatile.

Zod congrats that’s a great accomplishment 👍

Thanks! I'm limited to the physical activity I can do due to my back issues so I thought I'd baby-step my way into getting in better shape by starting with what I eat. Losing weight doesn't get any easier as you get older so I'm pretty shocked with the results so far--even more shocked with myself that I've managed to stick with it. :D Ideally, I'd like to try to get down to 165-170 but I'm going to have to start doing some cardio or something to get that far down.

Since the threat of diabetes hit me a little over a year ago I've dropped seventy pounds. I did nothing other than stop drinking pop. Which I thought would be the most difficult thing to do as I was a popacholic. Foods been more difficult. Not that I was an over eater per say but I struggle with the very idea of a diabetic diet. You can't eat shit!

Anyway, while doing some spring cleaning I converted one of the bedrooms into a miniature gym. Added a treadmill and dug out my old weight beach etc. Plan to drop another fifty and used the remainder to build some muscle. Hopefully I can get started soon.

That's fucking awesome! I cut out Coke, energy drinks, and stopped eating pizza 3-4 times a week. Then I just worked on portion control. I was dropping 1-2 pounds per week consistently with just those few adjustments. I'm not going to have the body I did in my 20's, but I'm getting closer than I thought I ever would after two decades.
