The Dark Knight Rises and the other two films will SHIIIIIIIIT all over this. Sorry, as a huge Batman fan, I have absolutely no faith they can recapture the magic of that franchise. Without a team as dedicated and skilled as that one. Period.

It is an overrated mess of a movie and a poor Batman film. You'll get it after reading a lot of BTS stuff, artbooks and interviews... The whole "grind in reality" crap and "Wayne wants to retire" bull ruined everything. No one really knew what Batman is about and no one really knew what Nolan actually wanted from these films. Ledger's Joker is too OTT and his desing is too classy for the character they've written. Two-Face isn't actually twofaced and his desing is as unrealistic as is gets.

Couldn’t agree more. Ledger was very overrated and one dimensional. Nothing about him was even remotely “Joker” besides the shitty makeup. He was just a terrorist.

To me Nicholson is the definitive Joker, but Phoenix’s performance was ten fold better. I just hope he gets the classic look at some point.

Don't get me wrong, I love Ledger's perfomance and his design overall. It's just that the character on paper wasn't the Joker. If the movie was built more like Batman comics he'd be great. But, alas...

The performance was mesmerizing and definitely worth of an award, but if you removed his makeup... he could of been random new DC villain #3.

You should definitely skip this movie for sure.

I loved Jack's Joker since it's primarily based off the Killing Joke in part.

Jack's character was def the most comic accurate Joker to date. I never liked how TKJ killed the mystery behind the character... but it did suit that film.

Keeping it a mystery might of been a better move, but the character has become such a DC juggernaut that it's almost the wrong thing to do to the readers. Even still, I think it was handled very well and I don't see anything wrong with it.

I honestly see Phoenix's performance as a good indication he will eventually become as crazy and sadistic as what he really should be. You never see Ledger outright kill anybody, but Phoenix is Fallout VATS headshotting dickheads.

As I said in the "Joker" thread, I don't view that film as DC related and Phoenix for me was never ment to be the comic book character. I hope no sequels will be made and the actor won't return.
