That first episode did a lot of things right. My free trial ends the day after the second episode airs. I'll cut them loose after that. cancel my show I cancel my subscription. Seems fair if you ask me.

The reasons did not hit the entertainment trades, BUT they did hit the news in North Carolina.

NC promised a $40m tax rebate that, due to a paperwork error, they were unable to deliver. That was roughly half the proposed budget for Sason 1 (which is estimated at $80m). When NC discovered the error, they corrected. WB shut down production, realizing they'd be taking a bath on the rebate and paying for far more of it than assumed. The adjusted number from NC is something like $14m. There won't be a Season 2 because it's now too expensive to maintain the same levels of quality, especially for s a niche platform, and there's no reason to keep the production on standby when the deal in North Carolina is no good.

Sculptgeek informed me of this tragedy. RIP. My hopes were like that YouTube video of a cheerful family letting a baby rabbit loose, only for it to get snatched by a bird of prey right in front of them.

Overall the show has been pretty good. Hope we get more actual swamp thing as the series goes on. So far, the show should be called Abigail. I think in ep 4 we got a glimpse of Anton Arcane in Abby's nightmare.

I've watched the first two episodes so far, and I love it. It's definitely better than I expected out of DC so of course it got cancelled. It's an origin season so I can understand them going from another character's POV initially. I wish they'd have gotten a second season, because I bet it'd focus more on Swamp Thing. This show really makes me wish they'd do a Justice League Dark series.

Glad you got around to watching it. That second episode reall starts to show the potential of the character. Not to mention the combination of Derek Mears and that suit are perfect. What they did to the series is absolutely shameful.

Building Swamp Thing

Pretty good write up. I've had ideas to make a 1/6 but have never started. I did a Famous Covers sized one way back in the day. I can't locate any pics of it....

Well, they made an episode called The Anatomy Lesson. All it has from the comic is a quick glossed over autopsy with a couple lines lifted from issue 21, while Swampy is awake.

And stating he is plant that thinks he is Holland like the book. But the revelation to ST isn't as dramatic as how he found out in the book. Leading to Sunderland's demise.

He was frozen like in the issue 20 (Alan Moore's first issue), Loose Ends, which is the name of the next Episode.

As for the DC service itself. At $7 a month I do feel it is worth it. I'll finish up Doom Patrol once ST is over. Titans has been good. Plus all the toons and just about every DC comic. It's nice to just pull them up instead of digging through the comic box.
