I finished the game on Hardcore a few days ago, out of all the things that are dumb about that game I still think the worst by far is Spencer taking his inspiration from Miranda, that's the most garbage writing the series had since 6 but at least that game had some really good stuff, the good stuff in 8 is just ok, nothing too special.
And again just like 7 the coolest part of the game is whatever involves Chris, his section of the game plays wonderfully, while Ethan struggled with one Lycan he can solo 10 of them in less than a minute so that was great, they know this is a walk in the park for the series's biggest veteran and they made sure everyone can see that.
They only thing I'm looking forward to in RE9 is the raid on the BSAA European HQ that is implied at the end, it looks like they are juicing up their soldiers with some shit so the most well known anti-bioweapon organization is using bioweapons now. By the way, I'm not entirely sure there is a big time jump at the end of the game, when you look at her medical file Rose was a pretty big baby so it's possible she became an adult in a couple of years
