A very neutral observation on Kojima's recent persistence (cough.. obsession) on star power in his games.

Stars in gaming in my experience are the kiss of death. Very, very rarely does it add anything to it. He's got three big names in this and I feel like it's going to be a shit train into oblivion.

Peter Stormare in Until Dawn was fantastic since it wasn't even an actual character and was just a narrator more or less. If it's lesser known actors I don't find it distracting since I don't have a pre conceived notion on them.

Beyond: Two Souls had both Dafoe and Page and that game was dog shit. Dafoe gave a good performance but you can't magically raise the quality of a game on name power alone if you have a hack director that cannot write.

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima is no stranger to bizarre antics. However, his latest might be among his weirdest. In Control, the newest game from Alan Wake and Max Payne studio Remedy Entertainment, Kojima is the star of a wonderfully strange Easter egg. Playing one Dr. Yoshimi Tokui, Kojima invites players to imagine themselves on a beach, with seagulls "fighting over a discarded bag of potato chips."

Death Stranding’s own creator says he doesn’t understand the game.

Speaking to the Financial Times, video game auteur Hideo Kojima admitted even he can’t quite comprehend his upcoming title – a star-studded action game where the focus is connection rather than destruction.

“Death Stranding… even now, I don’t understand the game,” said Kojima of the PlayStation 4 release.
