If you tone down the fucking pandering that goes on in the story, the game itself is actually better than the first. There’s some really interesting things you can do in Part II that are not possible in the first game in the slightest. I’d love to see improvements to the third game.

The story is where they just lose a whole shit load of points though. They teased the game like it was going to be another Joel and Ellie show. Instead, you have to play as the sack of shit that kills him.

This crap that people keep saying, “well, Joel had it coming, he was a bad guy.” Most everyone in the post apocalypse is a bad guy, you fuckwad. I’d say he redeemed all the bad he did by saving Ellie. They weren’t going to be able to synthesize a cure. Not one that would actually work the way they think it would. Joel weighed the risk and felt it wasn’t worth killing a little girl over it.

OH yeah, TLOU II plays great. I honestly thought it wouldn't but wow, it really did. I'm not sure if pandering was the issue besides that dumbass character Lev.

It wasn't even just teasing that it would be another Joel and Ellie game, it was outright misleading because I remember seeing the trailers show Joel in points that was later a different character.

And you're right. TLOU's point is pretty much everyone in the apocalypse is a bad guy. Not like how those raider groups in the first game just killed for shits and giggles as opposed to actual survival because they are just pure evil, but how everyone is selfish in some way. Which made Joel a great character, he knew how to survive and admitted he wasn't a good person. You can argue this somewhat for Abby too, except everyone still insists she's some angel. Even when in-game, they say Abby is a piece of shit. I'd also argue most everyone in TLOU is almost their own protagonist and someone else's antagonist, which could have been a great angle for Abby and her father, but ND very much screwed that up.

I would honestly want a new set of characters in a new setting at this point. Not just since I think I and II's cast are...beyond damaged at this point in every sense of the word, but we need to move on. Maybe give proper closure to the old cast like 'Ellie and Dina fixed their problems, Abby and Lev found the fireflies, etc'. But there's more to see in TLOU's world, which would be great. I honestly did not like how TLOU II was like 80% in Seattle, even though it was well designed. I liked how the first game had a real sense of constantly moving. Imagine if we got Illinois, Texas post-pandemic and so on in this world.

Part 2 was a failure in comparison to the first one. The leaks that came out right before release killed a lot of it's revenue.

The race swapping thing is to erase your predictive programming on what a character should look like so you're constantly living in the present. They want to burn it all down since they cannot create anything of value. Every time they do this, it draws money like a wet fart. TLoU2 sucks ass because instead of expanding on the original's grounded gray morality aspect and showing life is hard, not black-n-white, they went with childish "revenge is bad you see". The core concept of the sequel wasn't fitting at all so I wouldn't even listen to people who think that it's a good one.
