2019 Terminator: Dark Fate

I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It really saved the best for last though with that Predator Iron Man suit. Jesus Christ.

It could have been even worse - Studio ADI revealed that the pod originally contained a cryogenically-preserved Ellen Ripley. How the fuck that was supposed to work is beyond me.

I know! That suit was out of left field, and the Ripley thing was ridiculous idea. It was like they were trying to see how many bad ideas they could get away with.

Terminator needs to get back to the sci-fi thriller genre of the first one. I don't want anymore "good" Terminators or dumbass "awkwardly acting human" gags.

That ending was so bad, I think it was because someone lost a best. There's no way that's part of an actual script.

On top of that, they were actually planning to get.. Ripley from Alien?? What the shit does that have to do with anything? That's like the Terminator suddenly appears at the end scene of Schindler's List, steals a bike and rides off.

The movie was such a shit-show that they should have really gone all the way crazy with it. They should have opened the pod and found Arnold inside--but instead of Arnold as Dutch it would be Arnold as a T-800. The T-800 could hack and wear the Iron Predator suit and become the perfect weapon--the Predinator.

Was watching the original Terminator for research purposes recently, and thinking analytically about what I was seeing. I want the out-and-out horror tone back in the franchise, honestly. The T-800 is terrifying in that film, far scarier than even the T-1000 in T2. The dark, moody aesthetics and inner city claustrophobia need to make a comeback too, T1 is such a spectacularly bleak film.

Apart from T1 & T2 you can flush the rest. Salvation had some bits that could've almost worked, but the Marcus story sucked, the ending was bad, and Hellena Bonham Carter as Skynet..... Jezus. It's like they sat down with a few ideas for action beats and some cool drawings and tried to write filler around that.

But nothing is as bad as Genisys.

Genisys was only bad because of the John Connor plot and who they chose to portray him. Outside of that, I actually like the film. It’s far and away no where near as bad as The Predator.

It feels like the only thing left to do with Alien is let some of these things get back to Earth. Not in a low budget AvP way, but a real Alien film set in the series timeline. Future Earth. We haven't really had a good look at it. Round 2 of the Marines vs. the Aliens.

I don't need Sigourney for this. She's gone into the "phone it in" phase of her career. The Defenders is everything I need to know about her now.

Ughhh it's never anything new with these pathetic sequels. It's always compounding ground that's already been tread, it's never bringing something new to the table. I hope this one fails worse than the last one. Arnold shamelessly sullies his career with these paychecks for alimony.
