Yeaaaah I definitely see a little bit of that, especially with Robuttdick.
At least with Street Fighter, it's complete awfulness is something I kinda like. And without it, we wouldn't of gotten this.

I'm calling it now. This is either the very last shot of the movie, or even the post-credits stinger, to set up a sequel that'll never happen.
For fuck's sake, I don't understand this with Hollywood. Why not just make the first movie faithful to the source material, instead of making something completely different and baiting that you might do something more faithful down the line? I'm not a Sonic fan, but speaking generally here: if something's popular and enduring, it's those things for a reason - and that's what people want to see in an adaptation, not some clueless terminally-uncreative producer's total reinterpretation thereof.

I cannot believe they included that in the trailer. This whole thing should of just been a CG movie set in the game world.

Look at the pokemon movie. Hollywood doesnt have faith in the source material so they make up a bunch of crap.
It’s too expensive. The old days Disney was doing it, they had so many frames a second that it looked real.
Most of the 2D studios were closed. People laid off
The last time disney tried was princess and the frog and it flopped.
The industry as a whole took that as the end of american 2D
Thats why the only quality 2D projects are only coming from asia with anime.

They could rerelease Hop with Sonic substituted in and it would probably be the same movie.
