I have faith in this. I’m one of the few who loved Gareth Edwards’s movie and my hopes were heightened a bit when I watched Krampus, which this guy directed. I have my worries but I just hope they make an entertaining movie. Which in these days, seems like asking a lot.

I'm looking forward to this one. I just wish Mothra looked better.

Mothra and Rodan have a big showdown in this from what I’ve heard. Not sure mothra stands a chance as they beefed up Rodan for this movie. Really looking forward to this.

Monday for me, also in IMAX 3D. Can't believe critics are complaining that a Godzilla film is two hours of monsters fighting each other.

Haven't been to the movies in ages due to ill health. Looking forward to seeing a big dumb spectacle.

The first one had too little fighting, and now this one is over saturated with it. What's the fucking problem.

the only people I want to see in a Godzilla movie are those being squished—and the two little Mothra girls.

I’m fine if there’s a lot of fighting. I just don’t want to see Aaron Taylor Johnson try to be a wooden doll military wannabe. That was terrible acting.

To be fair I think that was more the fault of the script for writing a bland army character that doesn't show much emotion. ATJ does have acting chops and was great in a little film called Nocturnal Animals alongside Jake Gyllenhaal. But I agree he wasn't a good fit for the role.

The human element here is better than G14 but only this time there's a little too many characters, which means there's also more bad ones as well. When it's just focusing on a few of them - especially in the great third act - it's not all that bad. In future I want less human characters but better writing for them if possible. Serizawa is the best character in this for me at least, and I did like a few of them overall.

G14 was, thinking back, more of a big budget indie movie with Godzilla in it - which must have resonated with critics more for some reason - and I appreciate Gareth Edwards for giving a good sense of scale and size for the monsters - but his approach of build-up, build-up, then cut away multiple times doesn't belong in a Godzilla movie and that didn't sit well with general audiences.

Anyway, KOTM is a much better Kaiju film than G14 in my book. Tons of issues with script and dialogue and that, but delivers on the monster action IMO. Stay for the end credits because it sets up something potentially pretty crazy. 😲

I saw the film last night and thourghly enjoyed it. Definitely the best Godzilla film the U.S made. Me and my buddy review and discuss the film. Some spoilers ahead we were sort of just hyped to talk a lot about it.

Just got back. That leaked plot description from months ago was almost 100% spot on.
Human characters are beyond bad and there's too much of them.
The story is boring and stupid as fuck, with horrile narrative that repeats the same trope four times.
Monster battles are too short and look wonky, plus constantly showing humans destroys the inmpact.
Taking so much stuff from Heisei films didn't make me happy, because those movies are better.

I really did not care for this one. Didn't hate, didn't like.

Is this part of it just as bad as it was in 2014? That really cut the legs off the last one for me and I lost interest in it very quickly.

Saw this today. I liked it for what it was. Constant action and damage. Felt like they OP Godzilla a little. Never felt like he wasn’t in trouble. Monsters looked awesome. Story was odd but worked.

I'd say worse, because in GINO14 they were playing it straight and actors were actually acting.
In this one no one acts, just makes faces and reads script.
Plus there's a lot of horrible teenage humor which is poorly mixed into dramatic tone.

Muricans just don't get it.
No one cares for human drama in this movies.
You need silly melodramatic characters for this stuff.
And you DO NOT make them part of the monster action. EVER!

. . .

I'm very dissapointed because I had high hopes after "Skull Island", which was a lot of fun (despite some issues).
