Not sure. Vagabond has been on hiatus for years now I believe and I think that's shelved indefinitely.

I think another artist could do a serviceable job, but it doesn't mean anything if it's not his story.

I couldn't recommend it any higher for you to read it. To me, it's the undisputed heavyweight champion of manga without a close second. The story is fantastic but the art is truly God tier.

It likely won’t get finished. High School of the Dead still does not have a season 2. I think, a lot of the time, it’s out of respect. To me, it is more of a disservice not to at least finish up the story of these things that are created. Just get someone who respected the former artist to pay tribute to them with a decent conclusion.

It has to have an ending. It would be one thing if it was half way through, but it was literally reaching out and brushing it's fingertips on the final arc beginning.

Vagabond doesn't need an ending when it just completed a great arc before the hiatus, and we already know how the real Musashi's life played out anyway.

I don’t know enough about Berserk, besides the anime films and the show. So, I have no clue if anyone close to him could even finish the shit.

Everything was aligning with the last chapters which would indicate it's really close to the end. You gotta pick up the manga, it's countless panels that become impossible to pick a favorite. His art solely refines itself until it gets it exactly how he wants it. Bare in mind it started in the 80s.

Either way, they regard Berserk incredibly highly over there so I can't see them shitting it up. I don't think it would be fair to fans to leave it as it is. I'm sure Miura wanted it finished regardless too.

If for whatever reason it's shit, we can easily just ignore it as non canon.

Apparently Miura has been delegating artwork to his team anyway since it went digital so it won't change at all. I don't like the digital look but it's not bad.
