Saw the movie again, for mother’s day, with the family.
The only things that bugged me this time were an underwhelming Hulk and that damn Falcon thing again. So stupid. I didn’t even mind the “girl power” moment, which I somehow completely missed the first time around.
Thor is still pretty awesome. The method of his humor took a shift, obviously, and the initial gut reaction a few weeks ago was disappointment, but I feel like, despite it all, he was more badass than Cap or Tony in the final battle. The dual hammers were still awesome. The build up to the fight itself was done perfectly.
Honestly, Thor is the single best thing about these movies going forward. If he’s not in them, it’s going to leave a void that I don’t feel the rebooted X-men will be able to fill. There’s still some other good aspects, I guess.
The Guardians are my second favorite thing in the MCU, but they won’t be around forever. And then there’s Spidey. I love the idea of the character in the MCU, but this iteration, quite frankly, tends to be a bit boring. Everyone else praises him to death and I get it, he does have his moments... but he’s just been written relatively “safe.” Probably due to Sony? Maybe that will change going forward. It’s doubtful though. Still, as a huge Spidey fan, I have to ride it out, as long as he remains decent.
Finally, if they can rein in Captain Bitchface for future films, she might continue being okay as a supporting character, but not the face of the MCU. That should go to Spidey, as he’s Tony Stark’s “ward.”
