Yelling suck it to Nemesis might of been the most cringe, feminist mouthpiece shit ever in a video game. She undeservingly yells the classic "you want STARS?" line at almost the beginning of the game. Fuck off with that shit. In the original, Nemesis was pounded into hamburger from the rail gun and she says it during the killing blow.

Jill in the original, while a different VA, had the same warmth the one in RE1 had. Although she's more fleshed out in Nemesis since she had way more dialogue and you get to understand who she is while being almost one dimensional in RE1. Although REmake fixed that, even with the same dialogue. I tend to think RE3 is probably the best execution of any of the main protagonist's outings. In the sense it was that the game is specifically built for the character, and not the other way around and does it very well. She carries the game with her design first, but her as a character is the other high point in it. Look at the other games of that era. Can you think of another main character that stands out from the game their in more than Jill does in RE3? It's another reason why I like it the best of the series.

Although to give examples of other characters that sorta have this air about them would be Zero being a top to bottom, Billy game more or less. Don't get me wrong, I like Rebecca. But in terms of the mechanics, it's in the player's favor and nature to always play as Billy since he's the meatshield and he acts like Clint Eastwood. That game's biggest problem is both the characters barely even talk to each other, like RE2R. The other would be Claire in CV as she like Billy, is the real main character in that and stands out from Chris.

While Leon is right in there in terms of having such an iconic design that made him such a fan favorite male, Jill has always been tied with him as the favorite female lead in every poll since forever.

Claire while her design was abysmal, and her face model being ugly compared to the actual model she's based on, was very much in tune and not out of the bounds of how Claire should act. Leon was fine too, although he had a very weak voice actor. I'm not crazy about Ada but it's not terrible. I liked Annette's a lot. Gave him some depth and not just a grieving widow, and I liked how she was proactively trying to sabotage Birkin.

But yeah, Carlos was done surprisingly well in the remake and objectively better than the original. Although I still find his hair in that ridiculous. The guy they based him on is bat shit insane if you've seen his instagram. Another one like the Jill model that's desperately trying to ingratiate themselves into the RE fandom and it's just cringe.
The sad thing about Jill's VA in RE3R is she does have good delivery like the STARs line but it's crazy how poorly written she is. She kind of feels all over the place with the PTSD, the general anger she has, I think she's pretty scared at points, and how they try to make it seem like she's out of her element with the CONSTANT forced 'hurt' animations...which feels lame for RE. I don't mind that for games like God of War but here it doesn't work unless you're actually in caution or danger.

RE3 Jill was great because of how she never really lost track and was consistent. The closest to any issue was the opening narration but RE was still very hokey. You could argue slapping Carlos, but it sort of works.

Oh yeah RE0 lol yeah you're right. I like Rebecca's characterization but Billy comes off good too. There was really no reason to use Rebecca though, and the fact that Billy can't mix herbs is silly. It's like they needed to give Rebecca some incentive.

RE2R got everyone right, though Annette came off probably the most improved. I think Leon comes off a little more naive, but that actually works. I liked Claire being defiant to Annette and Chief Irons too.

I liked Carlos in RE3, but RE3R was very endearing and I was surprised I liked him more. The voice actor is a really nice guy from what my friends who met him said. I should look up the model's instagram...but I'm afriad now lol

This is actually worse than I thought it'd be. RE is about as unadaptable as Berserk seems to be. Unless you take it ultra serious and give it a big budget, it's guaranteed schlock. Even the comments say the novels were better, and I agree. I was hooked to them a decade ago and read them all. I believe Capcom worked with SD Perry in writing them. I believe that's where we first hear about Spencer.

EDIT yes, I checked. Spencer was mentioned for the first time a year after the novel came out in RE2 64 in an EX file.

I finally was able to install the HD mod for the sourcenext PC version of Nemesis. I was stupidly interpreting the instructions wrong. I like the ability to skip doors and do tactical reloads in game with it.

I'm about done the Clock Tower. While it does look really nice, there's some weird decisions they went with the backgrounds. The AI learning machine they use makes some objects lose all their structure and just look like a pastel blob. Specifically Jill's beret in the STARS office looks awful.

This is from a playthrough on YT. I wanted to see if it matched mine since I wasn't sure I installed it right.

DamToys just announced their Ada Wong. Personally…? Yeah, I think for this one, I’ll stick to my kitbash. Probably do the same with Jill. I want the typewriter and the wrist accessories though. Maybe if the headsculpt turns out better, I’ll snatch it when she is parted out, with any luck.

Definitely the weakest of their offerings. I still think the third party head we all got looks more accurate honestly.

I assume they'll move into RE3 next.

I mentioned before I've been playing the sourcenext version of RE3. I pretty much wasted a majority of my weekend trying to get it to work. I thought I had it worked out, and then I get to the point where I leave the Clock Tower as Carlos ans it crashes. Then I figure that part out, then the music keeps looping in one spot of each track.

I redid everything last night, and I had to do a system restore. I played a little to test it and I got to the city hall save room, so tonight I'll see if I can leave the clock tower.

I did have a minor audio bug in the bar where her running sound wouldn't stop.

I don't even want to think about Crimson Heads with the duo, doubly Rebecca
Agreed on Zero's overhaul. I kind of see what you mean on the zombies in 0...perhaps it's due to the duo?

Pursuers in RE are a weird bunch. I don't know if we had any between Nemesis and Jack Baker? I do think Nemesis in RE3 works the best, the game was designed around him wonderfully. Also agreed on RE3. Especially since the RE teams were split up and I think it was completed in less then a year, when other games, even from Capcom themselves, failed badly. I'd say RE3make is a strange but accurate example of how messed up og RE3 could have been.

RE0 enemies and bosses are bizarre. The scorpion can be a joke on some circumstances, the centipede feels weird (also Rebecca screaming is a precursor to Ashley screaming I swear), fuck the bat, and proto-tyrant I actually didn't find that bad. The first one is SO tense because you've got Rebecca on her own. The second time you can stun lock I found, so it isn't good. The other enemies are just reskinned standard RE enemies but worse. Leech Man is cool for its music and concept I guess.

Yawn can go so many ways but in good ways, which I liked. Plant 42 can as well. The zombie sharks...honestly speaking? I never really liked, it felt absurd. Even for RE, and the ORIGINAL no less. The concept, especially in remake, was well executed but I'll be honest when I say anything else would have better suited.

I do think the one forgettable boss in RE may be the Black Tiger, it kind of just feels like its there and I think you can avoid it.
Figured we should bring the convo into here.

I guess the CV Tyrant is a pursuer, even though it was brief. I kinda want to play CV for some reason. Maybe after I get done nemesis..

You raise a good point about 3make. That's as bad as Nemesis should of been and wasn't. It feels like the team didn't even play the original and had a brief outline.

Yes, it could be they toned down the zombies in Zero because of the buddy system. I think they even walk slower? Maybe I'm misremembering that. I like how in RE3, they would go into turbo mode and almost run at you.

The Zero bosses are mostly terrible. The bat sucks, stinger sucks, centurion is just a shitty yawn fight. Proto Tyrant round one is great. It's compact, and they battle arena looks cool too. Round 2 sucks. It's in such a weird area, and it's easy to get rid of him since you have both characters pounding him.

Leech man is good in theory, but the fact Billy can just kill them easily by shooting them in a cutscene... and that doesn't translate to ingame, doens't make any sense.

Both Leech man and eliminators both can tank shotgun shells. Elminators might be the worst enemy in the game since they're resilience doesn't match their size.

Yawn is great like you said, since it crucial to not get bitten as it just eats your time up. I don't even shoot him anymore and just leave with the death mask. I just let Richard get ate if I'm Jill.

Plant 42 in the original is fine, but there's no other strategy needed other than point in shoot. I like that it required timing in the remake where it's bulb needs to open, and you can fight it from the second floor. Neptunes I still kinda like, and I think REmake made them legit threats. Although in terms of an in universe monster, they're pretty terrible and have no practical application. They're one of the earliest models they did.

Chimeras I always really liked. I remember seeing this shot before it came out and couldn't believe how awesome they looked.

Black Tiger is the most forgettable for sure. It's just a larger monster that already exists in the game and doesn't behave any different. Big Neptune at least could instakill you and you cannot even fight it.

I think the dress is too long? Also, that body looks kinda meh. Doesn’t look to pose very good. It’s better than ThreeZero though.

Can anyone do a side-by-side comparison of the PP Toys and MTT Ada head and one of the DamToys product shots?
