The first season was fantastic. Hopkins was unbelievable in it. The second season wasn’t that great. I was hoping for them to explore the other parks more and didn’t get enough. I’ll watch the third season, but I already don’t care about them being in the real world.

Season 2 seemed like it was structured for binge watchers. It was difficult to hold onto if you watched week to week become of the way the story was intentionally distorted.

Season One is a very nice suspence story with existential themes.
It didn't threat me as if I was a braindead consumer, like most sci-fi stories these days.
Very enjoyable watch, with an open ending that left me thinking about things for days.

Season Two is a fucking horrible piece of nonsensical shit.
It betrays every single thing Season One was about and destroys everything that was good about it.

You ain't wrong. I thought they were clawing it back with that Native American episode, but then the finale was one of the worst things I've ever seen on television.

I didn't know it was Westworld until the very end. I like seeing the technology in the world away from the park, but I don't know how much the overall story appeals to me now that they've left the park setting.

Just watched the season 3 premiere. Unfortunately, it's just a run of the mill, sci-fi, robots wanna rule the world show now. It's not total shit, but if you're expecting West World season 1 (or even most of season 2) you're gonna be disappointed.

Or AMC's Humans. Or Blade Runner, etc. It's like all of them i.e. you've seen it before. The park aspect of the first two season is what set it apart.

Well the sequel to Westworld was Futureworld. However Westworld was basically Crichton's baby step inspiration that lead to Jurassic Park (Westworld with dinosaurs). He never was a fan of sequels.

The Lost World book is known fact a push by Spielberg to make a sequel. Since Crichton didn't write Futureworld, HBO might be stuck on plot for season 3 as much as the 2nd movie was in 1976. It's missing the Crichton edgeness of science not being contained by man.

Personally after watching Season 2, the impact of Delores going out in the world should have been ending. However given 2014's Ex Machina with AVA being same plot 2 years prior to HBO's first season. I can see why producers might find that ending as done before to end the show.

I'm fine with them moving to the outside world. It avoids the problem of the Jurassic Park series - why would anyone go back to this fucking park when they keep loosing control? You don't go back to Camp Crystal Lake. You don't buy the Amityville House. You don't vacation at Westworld.

Aaron Paul is a good cast addition.

HBO might be stuck on plot for season 3

The HBO show isn't following a set path for plot like GoT had too. Other than the title of the show (Westworld), company name (Delos) and the concept (theme park with robots gone bad) the show really has nothing to do with the two movies and the CBS mini-series.
