That's pretty much what I've seen in other reviews. Honestly, 7/10 to me is a fail when you're looking at the pedigree of where the series came from. I look at T1 as a 10/10 and T2 almost completely matching it.

I really doubt this is going to kickstart a series when it's getting buried online. At least it wasn't the SJW nightmare we all thought it was. I think I'd give it a chance they didn't replace John. They didn't necessarily need Furlong.

I ultimately think it was worth it to set up Linda Hamilton's role and performance. He may be gone, but his spectre looms over the entire film. There's a great scene after Sarah has to be talked down from blasting "Carl" with a shotgun where she admits to Dani she never took any photos of John for fear they could be used to identify him in the future, and now she's starting to forget his face...

Replacing John Connor is my biggest gripe with the film, besides the moar wamen aspect. Which, kind of goes hand in hand. I also firmly dislike the “Apple store doucheness” of the Terminator.

Anyway, I only met Arnold very briefly a long time ago, back when he was touring the Planet Hollywood locations (which are all closed now?), and like an idiot didn’t bring anything for him to sign. I got to say hello and that was pretty much it. That same year I bumped into the old goofy guy from the Earnest films at a restaurant. We left him alone though. I did get his autograph at a convention years later.

That's pretty messed up, and that at least makes sense. I just feel removing him out of the plot is a huge mistake, especially as we've never seen him in the future. Bale doesn't count. I think something could of been worked out where he could of been alive and worked with a new resistance leader and IDK, be the new Reese in this weird timeline. Speaking of which, Reese is like ten years old at this point in time.

It's just a slap in the face to T1-2. He could of just been replaced as the leader, without dying.

There's a lot of potential for a good sequel, I think. This film hints at some interesting new ideas, but mostly focuses on the present and protecting the new girl from the Rev-9. They will absolutely need to do better on the future scenes if that happens, though. That and send Natalia Reyes to the James Cameron Female Bodybuilding, Advanced Tactical Firearms and Lockpicking bootcamp Hamilton went through for T2.

That's another thing, she's built like a child. There's no way anyone is buying her as the leader of mankind that converted everyone to her cause.

Talked about that in my spoiler post.
It really doesn't work. They need a tougher-looking, older actress for her future self if they're going to do more of these. When she shows up with cornrows and combat fatigues in one of the future war scenes, it's the worst part of the film. Laughable, even.

My dad will end up buying this on the family vudu account, just like he did The Predator. Absolutely horrendous decision. I warned him not to do it.

Just realised there's absolutely nothing from Hot Toys for this film. Guess they're too busy with Marvel and Star Wars to make something cool like the new endo or Carl.

Hot Toys isn’t making anything from Terminator or Alien ever again. Neither franchise merchandise would sell well enough for them to justify taking on future projects. And after the atomic bomb The Predator dropped a while back... you can kiss that shit goodbye too.

Granted, I have everything I would ever want from the existing lines, with the exception of the Big Chap and an “official” P1 Predator. I’m not buying the original Big Chap for the exorbitant prices that it goes for... only for it to fall apart in my hands. And I have an upgraded Predators Classic Pred with the P1 parts, so I don’t really need a 2.0 P1 Predator.

They did Genishyt, and since that bombed I guess they didn't want to bother.

Crying shame, the Rev-9 and Carl would make fantastic figures. I'm glad Arnold got to do this and somewhat redeem himself after Genicyst, if he never plays the character again this is a great place for him to leave it.

It really pissed me off in Genishyt that yes he looked older as the film went on, but for some reason his skeleton for some reason was going through the same aging process. He tells John he could live for 120 years, so what's the fucking problem?

Why can’t they just CGI him like Tarkin? If that’s some of the only real cgi in the film, it could work. The skin suit aging is kinda stupid. I guess it makes sense, but meh.

Because they didn’t put the proper budget into it. It’s gonna cost a pretty penny to get it right. And he can’t be in the film for more than 20 minutes in total or they can’t make any fucking money.

This is what happens when you sit on your asses and the actors age into the ground. The Narnia films being one of the worst offenders. They took way too long between each release.

However, they knew there was more to tell with the Terminator franchise, so they should have kept going after the success of T2, instead of waiting ten years for the flop we ended up getting.

Spoiler-free:

The Good -

Most of the film
Linda Hamilton
Arnold
Mackenzie Davis
The Rev-9
Blessedly free of politics and SJWisms despite what greasy click-baiting concern-trolling shitheels like Mr H would have you believe

The Bad -

Any future war sequences past the opening one on the beach

The Indifferent -

Natalia Reyes, she's not great but not terrible either (except in one scene)

7/10 film, would be 8/10 if the future war sequences were either better or removed entirely.

Spoilers:

woah, had to delete the spoilers. if you quote someone on here it shows the what what hidden.....

A seven sounds promising, or at least entertaining. Expecting this to be on the level of T1/T2 is a hard act. In the fanatic world those are extreme top tier movies.

Good to hear the SWJ feel isn't there.
