It was pretty good. Don't expect anything groundbreaking but it has a lot of heart and some unexpected surprises. It really is like Big meets Superman to its credit. The weak parts were the CGI monsters which I didn't care for.

DC just needs to continue this streak of creating their own movies instead of playing catch up to Marvel. They are getting better I feel.

Since the movie started a bit late they skipped the trailers so I didn't get to see the five minute Godzilla preview they were meant to show before this. It doesn't matter since it's been leaked anyway.

Got screwed on our advanced screening this past tuesday night. They abruptly canceled it with little warning. I was pretty pissed. We ended up having to buy tickets for a monday night showing.

Whatever jye says you are pretty much guaranteed it's false, always assume the opposite is true. I wouldn't believe him if he says the moon is white.

Just got home. I actually liked it. It’s pretty obvious as to what the finale will be just as you begin watching it. But this doesn’t detract from this movie. I liked Mark Strong but he’s nothing special. This movie was actually more dark in tone than I thought it would be. The cgi isn’t the best. But it is entertaining and takes shots at itself while not being Deadpool. Anyone that says this movie is terrible was expecting too much and valuing very little.

It had heart and characters people could actually attach and identify with. That’s a win for DC. I’m glad I went.

It sounds great for a DC film! i was hoping Mark Strong would be a good Sivana—though I really think he’d make a better Lex Luther. I liked him as Sinestro so it’s too bad he doesn’t seem to be a great villain in this.

Anyone who blindly praises both The Last Jedi AND Captain Marvel is the definition of a shill. That’s not even accounting for their shit taste. Hell, I’d even say I often have shit taste, but good grief dude—it’s as if he’s actually trolling in all of his posts...

Well, it's just like the trailers made it to be. A cheesy movie. Yea, a lot of the dialogue is cringy and plays to stereotypes. Could have used more action. I'm also glad they held off on using Black Adam in the first flick. Sivana was alright. A typical bad guy.

As for BO, looks to open with 50mil. Kinda weak so this prolly won't even hit half a billion. But it's budget isn't that high, so it doesn't need to.

from what I’ve heard, it’s exactly like the story they included with the JL comics from New 52. Every big “surprise” was in that storyline. Good for people that don’t read the comics, I guess.

I haven’t “read” many comics the last two decades. I started the TMNT idw run (it’s still ongoing, I think?). I did read civil war and the dc crisis series, when Michael Turner was doing the cover art. And before that I briefly read the launch of the Walking Dead and the New Avengers—mostly stuck with the later a bit longer because it had Spider-man.

I’ll give him credit though... at least he doesn’t suck off every film that comes out like a lot of people do. I mean, I tend to enjoy very, very mediocre films. I love the greats too, obviously.

I wouldn't have any feelings at all towards this movie... if it wasn't the first ever live action adaptation of the Golden Age character who was way more popular than Superman and Batman back in the day.

On it's own? Mediocre mess of underdeveloped characters and boring plot, too much time spent on things like unfitting gags and pseudo-conflicts. Felt like someone found a draft from early 90's, rewritten here and there for modern audience and called it a day. Which I wouldn't mind and wouldn't hate... if it wasn't Captain freaking Marvel. Also, both Doctor Sivana and Mark Strong completely wasted - generic revenge driven unemotional villain for heroes to run from and make fun of, made even worse by the tease of his Lex Luthor like background, with a waste of great John Glover as Sivana Sr.

Loved Asher Angel but he didn't get enought screen time or matherial to work with.
Hated Zachary Levi, his awful overacting and weird faces. Felt like a completely different person.
Damn shame.

Finally saw this tonight. I knew this wouldnt be the Captain Marvel I grew up with just from the trailers. They made it a kids movie. So I resided myself to what looked like goofy fun and based on that I'd say it was enjoyable.

I initially liked the setup for Sivana, the seven sins, and the revenge on his family. Then his story sort of fell flat once he went after Marvel. As for the rest of the movie Cap was what I expected a kid in an adults body so I wasn't overly offended by silliness of the comedy. However, I found myself bored at times by aspects of Billys story and the group home. So it was a ultimately a mixed bag.
