Directed by Simon McQuoid, the Mortal Kombat film will be hitting theaters March 5, 2021, the same date as Sony's recently announced Masters of the Universe movie.

Pre-production on Mortal Kombat starts this month, with production expected to begin before 2020.

It will film in Adelaide, Australia.

Can’t find anything about the director other than the fact that he directs commercials.

I doubt it’ll be better than the first one, but it’s almost guaranteed to be better than Annihilation - they’d have to make an abomination to outdo that one.
