The Remake Part 2 will be what finally gets me on the PS5. And I already have Demon’s Souls. I do hope that part 3 is not on PS6. 😂

I finally finished this over the last two days. I was fine with the game overall up until the last boss fights segments. What a piece of fucking shit. I'm fine changing some stuff up in remakes but this was offensively bad.

Snake… it’s not a remake. It’s literally a continuation of the original game. What they’ve done with Final Fantasy VII is a masterpiece. And no western developer could pull off a game this great.

Sephiroth is now a universe level threat. He’s become more of a villain than the original game ever made him out to be. There are so many layers to him now that it’s insane. And I’m not one of the people that ever played through the original. I know the story and the major events that occur and I’ve picked up smaller things along the way.

Very few games make me so enthralled that I go out and buy almost the entire line of figures. As much fun as I had with Spider-Man PS4, God of War, Ghost of Tsushima and all the games from this last gen… I really only went balls deep with Final Fantasy VII. I would get the entire line, if I could justify it.

It is a remake. It’s literally in the name.

Sephiroth was already portrayed as a universal threat in the original. That last act is dogshit. The tedious ghost fight bosses and the nonsensical boss fight with him at the end was painful. It was already a drawn out bore fest up to that point and the ending pushed it off a cliff.

Absolutely. They even had the balls to make "heroes become villains" thing into the tasteless twist of "Final Fantasy Origins". The amount of things that are wrong with that game is beyong human understanding.

It’s not though. It’s literally a continuation of the first game. Sephiroth is trying to rewrite history. The Sephiroth in the Remake is THE very same Sephiroth from the original game dude. Y’all can bitch about Dragon Ball all you want. I would agree that it has gone downhill, but Final Fantasy VII “Remake” is one of the best things I’ve ever played or watched. Period.

Did you pay much attention to the story? Sephiroth and Aerith are the only ones that know of the previous timeline. The events of this new timeline are going to be different and the lifestream will play a big part of that. This isn’t just “oh look, a shitty RE remake.” It’s a remake that is a continuation of the original story. The original Sephiroth is trying to alter what transpired in the original game.

I did pay attention, and I just don't care. Even if that's true, it's not interesting to me. Why bill it as a remake when it's possibly this big brained Kojimbo secret sequel? No one wanted a sequel that plays like the last Mortal Kombat trilogy. They wanted to play the same game again with modern technology.

The whole fate thing is so clumsily done.

Gonna be quite honest… I have never cared for the original game. This game made me care about it though. I always thought the original was highly overrated.

This isn’t a normal remake. It’s not lazily done like REmake 3. Hell, it’s probably the best Remake that’s ever been made, aside from REmake1. I really have never understood the other side of the fence that doesn’t like this game. I can completely understand other remakes, because I’m right there with most of the people that are disappointed in them.

Not this time and not ever. This game dethroned every single JRPG I have ever played. Every single one of them. All the other Final Fantasy games. All the Tales games, Dragon Quest, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey. Everything. They all seem like uninspired, mediocre trash in comparison.

In no way would I criticize it for being lazy. The production values in it are stellar, I just find the decision making they went with it idiotic.

I thought FF7 was overrated for years until I played it for the first time like 15 years ago. It's only a little longer than this game, but it doesn't meander and gets to the point. There's some filler in it but it's entirely optional quests that don't even affect the plot.

I can’t even describe what is so good about this game, in all fairness. There’s just too much, I think. I have played so many rpgs and jrpgs in my life. And while some of them are really good, Witcher III and Lost Odyssey getting high marks especially, none of them can really hold a candle to this game. And since it ties into the original version, it makes it that much more meaningful, even more so for the original fans. I’m not even an OG fan. I started with FFX.

There aren’t many games that I would snatch up before the house burned to ashes (because it’s pretty stupid to prioritize most of the stuff in your collection over pets and people), but the deluxe edition of the Final Fantasy VII Remake is probably one of them. Although, not sure I could carry my Beretta and samurai swords at the same time as all that. 😂

I will say that I think this Jenova theme is better than the original by a lot.

I don't know why they wait nearly 15 mins of fighting her and getting to phase 3 for it to kick in, but it's incredible. I haven't been pumped like that for a boss fight in a really long time.

Meh. It's an inconsistent mess of symph and rock with some midi-like throwbacks to hook old fans up, which is a very cheap tactic in bad taste and makes it sound like desparation on composer's end after all that build-up.

It’s not the same story from this point forward. Which makes for a more interesting game. And it doesn’t take away from the original. Unlike the RE Remakes, which mostly shit on the legacy of the original games with drastic character alterations and outfit changes and cut content. You have to take the original FFVII hand-in-hand with the remake.

I personally think this looks amazing. Better than FF16 for sure. I’m undecided if I’ll actually get that yet. Although, I probably will. The Final Fantasy games are the only JRPGS I really play anymore. I do also buy the “Tales of” games, but mostly just to collect them.
