Not only is the thing $10 higher (it’s $70 usd in Japan), because this is PBandai America and “cuz greed”—but BBTS thinks we’re all stupid.
You can’t justify anything over $100 for this, because if you take off a bulk of the shipping cost and factor in wholesale pricing, they are probably getting these at $70 a pop. I’d argue they might even be getting them at a little over $60 each, after it’s all said and done. I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt though.
There is ZERO reason for the prices at which they list the PBandai stuff. It’s just unadulterated greed. It’s the scummiest thing they do. They already jack up the price of certain figures, because I guess they’re “more rare” than others.
That’s something that Toywiz has always done and I thought BBTS was better than that. It’s usually not terribly much. The upcharge on some of their import listings is beyond fucking stupid though.

Because the expensive stuff is pre-assembled and has a more refined plastic quality and/or paint. There’s a lot of things they “claim” drive up the prize, but we all know that it costs them less than $30 to make this crap and the rest of it is licensing fees, worker fees and executive fees.
All these Prize Figures and Banpresto statues are nearly the same level of quality as stuff we were getting for $80 and $90 back in 2006-ish. The only difference is prize figures don’t often come fully assembled. Which isn’t a big deal. I’d rather have less extravagant paint detail and a disassembled figure than pay a massive ass $200 for an anime figure.
The anime figure market is on the verge of some big changes, I think. It used to be they would have a set number of pieces that they would plan to make ahead of time and then pre-orders would open and they would tack on more to produce for the masses.
However, the market is so saturated now, and so costly, that there’s no way the current system is sustainable. They’ll have to basically use a made to order pre-order system. Which will mean they might eventually turn to using 3D imaging to produce prototypes to show off. That will gauge interest and tell them whether or not it’s worth pursuing various projects. Some properties won’t have to go through that quite as much though.
The Cooler pre-order closes in a few days. Grab it while you can or you’ll be paying BBTS scalper prices. Worse if they sell out. It’s going to make Recoome’s price look like a joke. Both Raditz and Cooler were polled characters that will definitely be highly sought after, once gone.
I don’t think mine shipped yet. I just got Recoome yesterday. Honestly not impressed. Same with Jeice. I just don’t like the Ginyu Force, but it’s the only way to get the damn Dragon Balls. No one sells them.
Dodoria was teased. It looks alright. I’m not sure if I would pick up him, or Zarbon, without first seeing a Namek saga Vegeta featuring battle-damaged armor.
I’m not getting either one until they announce Vegeta. They literally don’t fight anyone else, but the Namekians. I don’t think the Z fighters fought them?
