As for the game, it's pretty fun after you get over the long and tedious hump of the beginning. Although unless they give us some substantial DLC, I dunno if I would return to it after completing it. Although it would be interesting redoing it and having a stranglehold on the mechanics.

So in your opinion is it worth playing? Watching any reviews or gameplay videos makes it look utterly boring, but it seems many who are actually playing enjoy it, even though it's not exactly 'fun.' And not much talk about the story here.. is it actually entertaining? (I restrain myself from using the word 'good' to describe a Kojima story)

I'm leaning towards just watch all the cutscenes on youtube and be done with it.

I’m fine with it thus far but I’ve heard the ending is terrible. The plot is a tedious melodrama that both has interesting bullet points, with contrived Japanesey nonsense. It’s a fun grind and the map is huge. There’s more to it than the negative reviews say but the hump you gotta get over can really be off putting.

Um. It really is a weird beast. There's an actual plot there unlike V, but I don't feel there's engaging storytelling in here like MGS1-2-3. Much of it is just bluster and bloat and very self aggrandizing. It relaxes later on, but the first few hours pound your ass with needlessly long cutscenes.

It's a step in the right direction though in terms of storytelling in MGSV and MGS4 to a degree... it just needs to get out of it's own way more often and I would think it's a better experience than MGS4 in terms of the plot. Which on paper it is... but you know... 40 minute or so cutscenes is just too much.

Yeah, the story is unnecessarily complicated like 4, without the self hate, but it looks like 5. I gotta say I'm glad Kojima finally understood that tapes are cancer and hours of cutscenes are his forte, whether they are good or not.

The tapes were incredibly phoned in major plot points. We never got to see Zero in it. It was inexcusable.

While the story is starting to go full retard, Kojima's biggest fault with this game is giving this hack more work... and even modeling the character after him. Holy shit is he AWFUL

I completely dislike this trend of using actors for games, shit just crashes the illusion and immersion, you're no longer the protagonist, the characters are no longer living part of that world.

They're just paid actors.

Even MGSV stopped at the right spot, just slightly blending the actors features onto the characters, that's it, that's where you stop.

Quiet at least was an unknown and I can forgive that. Ocelot quasi looked like Baker, and that's one of many things Kojima ruined with that character in that one... when the guy in that looks, acts, sounds nothing like the guy in MGS3-MGS-MGS2-MGS4...

Yeah but at least it wasn't straight up Baker, I don't hate the guy or anything, he's a good voice actor for vidya, but now that he has to act forreal, he falls behind the actual actors in the game.

Even that new Star Wars game is doing it, this actors trend honestly makes me not want to play those games.
