What happened to the Idris Elba idea? Granted, I would have wanted them to kill off Daniel’s version and have them use James Bond as a moniker for Idris Elba’s character.

I get the impression she inherits the 007 License To Kill after Bond has retired to civilian life. She could have been 008, 009, etc... but that's marketing trolls for you. She's not the new "James Bond", she's a different agent with his re-assigned license. She'll probably get killed in the first 15 minutes of the film.

The Bond films have been made by Sony and MGM for a while now. The production company is British and run by Cubby Broccoli's daughter, who is achingly hip and progressive. I imagine she's been wanting to do something like this for a long time.

Guess Tomb Raider being heavily based on the character isn’t enough. Let’s just erase all iconic white male characters from existence. Next, it’s white female characters. They’ve already been dipping into that one with gingers.

Not actually what they’re doing, the premise in this film is apparently that Bond starts out retired, you first learn this when “007” is summoned to M’s office and a black woman walks through the door. This is just more clickbait and outrage farming for publicity. So sick of it, the only thing to do is not give it oxygen.

That’s the big floating question mark. Barbara Brocolli would probably want that by all accounts, but the rumour is the other producers, shareholders, etc involved all (probably correctly) think a stunt like that would kill the brand off after decades of success. Personally I hope they let it rest for a few years once Craig’s done.

But why not just make her a new character with a new number and not someone riding on the coattails of an established male character.

She'll prolly take on a female Blofeld and Goldfinger. Oh man, can't wait for the 7' female Jaws.

Christopher Nolan has been wanting to make a Bond flick. Let him at it.

I’d be fine with a new series of films with something like a 009 moniker or whatever and the new male bond (whoever it ends up being) teams up with her in some of each of their films. Flat out replacing the male Bond is the fastest way to kill the franchise.
