The Rock dropped on his Instagram yesterday. Enjoyed Shazam! but hope Black Adam and a bit more that sticks. 2021 is going to be stacked with comic book flicks.

It's supposed to be going up against Avatar 2, which totally won't be pushed back and will come out on time and earn more than the first.

I liked Shazam, but I wish he wasn’t so goofy. He’s supposed to have the wisdom of Solomon. I have a feeling I’m going to like Black Adam as a character more—unless they have The Rock cracking jokes. That’ll piss me off.

Oh I'm sure he will just be The Rock. I be the character will be handled the same as Venom and Loki with villains turned good'ish.

That picture looks really cool. I hope they give him the pointed ears.

I'm surprised they're prioritizing this over a sequel to Shazam! though, because by the time they start production on that the kids will have aged significantly.

I personally enjoyed Shazam. It was great to see a DC movie that wasn’t complete shit. Granted, I loved BvS and Suicide Squad and didn’t actually think they were complete shit. So, maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about.

I'm not sure why he needs his own movie to be honest. I guess having the rock attached is the only excuse they need. It'll be the wizard looking for someone worthy, the sins tempting adam away, yadda yadda. Only decent thing is it may be set in ancient egypt but then it'll just feel like the mummy movies. lol

I didn't like it, in fact I just plain don't like Cap Marvel anymore in general.

But it bothered me that they took the lowest common denominator to make Shazam, they didn't try at all, they wen't the modern easy route with the "kid in an adult's body" 🤦‍♂️ no wisdom of Solomon or nothing that would give the character some depth.

Billy was fine, I don't mind the idea of a kid who's an asshole due to a rough life, in fact, Billy's parts are probably the most compelling and human in the movie, along with his relationship with his foster siblings, but that all went away when he turned into Cap Marvel. And the humor was also just easy jokes, like Deadpool.

I suppose it's harder to convey the idea that Cap Marvel is more like an entity that is anchored to Billy and is called upon with the name of the wizard, more like a separate being, than just have Billy be Cap Marvel himself... Wait it's not hard at all, it's literally Ultraman (Japanese one)

I should probably mention that when I say I liked it, I really mean I thought it was going to be absolute shit throughout the entire movie, but there were a couple things that surprised me. They absolutely took the easy way out though. Went with a lighter tone to make more $$ but way over did it with the jokes. The new DC animated movies after New 52 portray him the same way--just a kid in an adult body with powers. Basically they made Tom Hanks in Big into a superhero. I know they followed the story they laid out in the New 52 reboot, but they didn't follow it closely enough. Should have had less goofy jokes and had Black Adam as the main antagonist to battle instead of Sivana. I've gotten used to WB getting characters wrong and twisting storylines to make them worse so I'm probably becoming numb to it now. The kid in me is screaming for them to get their shit together and do it right. The adult in me is exhausted from hoping they'll get their shit together then being consistently disappointed.
