They def don't know what to do with Ryu cuz givin him beard is the only "fresh" thing about his design. Gotta update the design but too afraid to do something different.
I actually like the core idea behind Ken's design, it just... Feels like they wanted to awoke US flag feel but at the same time ground the overall look down. It just wont work both ways, you have to choose one or the other.
Cammy looks fine, it fits her character.
Chun Li, on the other hand... WTF?! It's a fuckign mess. And I hate this new semi-realistic super serious face of hers.

How is it Tekken can maintain it's integrity seven games in with not changing any designs drastically, but SF cannot? Akuma and Ken get worse with every game now.
