Per a report from Variety, Nickelodeon has ordered the new series from CBS Television Studios. But unlike the classic animated Star Trek series, it will be a CGI animated show. According to the report, the series will “follow a group of lawless teens who discover a derelict Starfleet ship and use it to search for adventure, meaning and salvation.”

Kevin and Dan Hageman will produce the series. They previously worked together on Trollhunters and Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu. Additionally, Eye Animation productions, Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment are collaborating on the project.

Star Trek, Nickelodeon and the state of animation are doing incredibly ambitious things as of late,” said the Hagemans in a statement. “We couldn’t be more excited to jump aboard.”

Alex Kurtzman will serve as an executive producer of the series, alongside Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Aaron Baiers and Katie Krentz.

Star Trek’s mission is to inspire generations of dreamers to build a brighter future. Dan and Kevin have crafted a story that honors its exploratory spirit in a way that’s never been done before, while the Nickelodeon team blew us away with their excitement at bringing ‘Trek’ to a younger generation around the world,” said Kurtzman.

Star Trek was never about "adventure".
And people hated kids across all the shows.

Star Trek has been a dead horse gettin' beat up since 1999.
Late seasons of VOY were horrible and ENT was a clueless reboot.

We'll see if that Picard show at least tries to be Star Trek.

Proof that creating utopia is the fastest way to give rise to new edgelords, even in the 23rd century.

"The world sucks."

"HOW!?! You live in a fictional society where there's no money, you don't have to work, you never want for material things, you can go anywhere in the universe by saying "please", you can have any food you want in moments from a synthesizer on the wall, the worst diseases have been cured, there's no 3rd world... What the fuck do you have to complain about?"

"Music blows in this century"

I'm ok with lawless kids thing. DS9 and VOY showed that Federation is far from perfect.
They were trying to go away from the moronic S1 vision even in later seasons of TNG.

I just don't like how ST is being made into Star Wars. Trilogy of mediocre popcorn movies wasn't enough, I guess.
