Downloaded this today. It's a fan restoration that was years in the making. It's all self contained so you don't need to manual edit anything.
Although I did have a few crashes, it boots up fast and I did complete a run relatively crash free besides 2-3 times. Looks fantastic. I didn't get the In Water ending, and got Leave. Oh well. I was going to do it again tomorrow since my wife wants to watch a playthrough since she loves horror games.
My God, it looks and feels nothing like the original... James looks like a generic movie dude on a verge of hysteria, which is the complete opposite of what he should be.
Haha! Yeah, I'm tired of this idiotic argument as well. Why even bother with a remake if you want something different? Make a new fucking game under the same franchise. Which they actually are doing, so this makes it even more baffling.
The amount of people sucking this game is is sickening. It's the only game from back then that DOESN'T need to be remade. It hasn't aged badly at all. And the fan restoration is beautiful to play.
It'll lack all the carefully crafted atmosphere and subtly the original had, and shove Pyramid Head in your face constantly.
"If you don't like it, don't play it." This is such a selfish bitch thought to have. That you're actually in pain from an opinion.
Yep. I think remakes are fine, when it’s done like the RE1 REmake. Resident Evil 2 squeezed by as a success, but RE3 still gets shit on by a lot of fans—and for good reason.
So I'm not a big Silent hill dude....under the sole pretense of 'when I got interested, it was in triple digits' or so. Still haven't had luck getting it. I also don't trust Konami much these days.
At worst, this is a new way to play SH2. The HD pack still goes a fair amount and it's...well bad.
I’m withholding full judgement until release. But I’m most certainly not expecting this to be remotely as good as the original. There is literally no way it will be.
Nothing will ever top Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3, Silent Hill: Homecoming, Alone in the Dark: A New Nightmare, REmake, RE2, RE3, and Code Veronica. They’re all classic games.
REmake 1 is the only remake of any of these games that I’m putting on the list, because it wholly destroys the original Director’s Cut. The remake of RE2, while good, still falls short because of “Scenario B.”
