Yeah, it felt very soulless. It's something you cannot put into words, but it's there. I'm just glad it wasn't just me that had that experience.

I played Spider Man for ps4 since it was free, though I had fun with the game I found a lot of it very frustrating, especially the combat and the overall movement. Swinging feels like dog shit, maybe the camera angle + the way the animations look make it worse but it feels like each swing moves you only a couple of feet forward, it feels slow and awkward af and I hate that

Now for combat, enemies are ridiculously tanky, I don't want them to be one punch but come on they're like a sponge, with the way you can send them flying through the air Spiderman would be strong enough to blow up their skull with a single touch, yet they can take more punches than Superman and a few of the cannon fodder enemies are kinda annoying but the DLC ones are by far the worst. Especially since the game relies too much on dodging and nothing else, it's like that is his only real superpower, and you know what? Yeah, it is the only thing that allows him to win against his real enemies but having to dodge 7 times in a row just to live without being able to do anything else is boring as fuck

As for the story, I did like some aspects of it but I'd give the story a 1/10 just because they inserted Miles into this, a garbage character that shouldn't even exist, and in a less gay world he wouldn't exist at all but now we're stuck with him forever... can't wait for them to add Gwen and force a (((romance))) between them

It sucks because I do want to see what they do with Venom in the sequel, but at same time I don't want to see it. It'll be ok if he's playable and they let you kill some people as him, I'd definitely love to kill Kraven since he seems to have his head so far up his ass he's become addicted to his own farts. Though after playing the first game I know what to expect for the second one, I truly dread the idea of them thinking they nailed the web swinging and that it needs no change because they should scrap it and start all over again, obviously they won't

It's amazing how every game after SM2 has shitty swinging mechanics since they're not based on momentum at all. It always feel like you're being hobbled from reaching your real max speed.

The swinging mechanics are the best since Spider-Man 2. They’re not perfect though.

I would agree with that, but it's still comparing a Prius to a Mustang.

It's the only game I think that allows you to actually do a complete loop with your web while the others force you to let go of it at that angle.

SM3 did have a neat mechanic of using both triggers for left and right weblines and doing them together.

I haven't played many Spider-Man games besides Raimi's, Insomniac's and some randoms like Ultimate Spider-Man but yeah only 2 felt fine and Insomniac's. Ultimate feels way too whacky. Could be mis remembering

Nah I remember Ultimate being a piece of shit. And Venom was the shitty Ultimate version that had no webs and just hopped everywhere.

They’re not perfect though.
The swinging-on-the-web it self is garbage, almost no physics involved, very arcadey. Fluidity of animation is the only good thing about it. Even "Web of Shadows" had a system where your swinging actually felt impactful.

I always considered getting WOS and never pulled the trigger.

WoS is cartoony and outdated but I love the main story and soundtrack too much, plus cameos of other hero characters don't feel forced. I'll take that over new games that shove sociopolitical crap and characters I don't like down my throat.

I playing the gross Miles's game now, since it was free. While the story of this game is ass, obviously, the gameplay is way better than the original Spiderman game. The combat is more fun, I find myself Superman punching mfs instead of dodging endlessly or relying on gadgets for crowd control which is quite an improvement

The web swinging feels a bit better too but I haven't made a thorough comparison to figure out why, I think it might be the less stiff animations plus the swinging itself being slightly faster

There is one thing I gotta agree on Miles Morales's game. The story is bad at times but imo, it's because the antagonists are so by the numbers. That's being nice, otherwise they are just bad. Phineas being heralded as a hero despite being a fucking terrorist because she tried to undo the mess she did at the end and died to save them? No. Fuck out of here. The VERY blatantly evil Roxxon who's got the most generic backstory? They're amusing at least and at least it didn't feel patronizing because they tried to get us to feel a certain way. I hate Phin, holy shit she's so unlikeable and stupid. There's so much proof that she had no idea what she was doing. Miles wasn't much better with her - but I was surprised that when she wasn't present, he was ok. I can go on about why I HATED Phin, especially since the first Insomniac Spider-Man did fine with its villains, though far from perfect.

There are some story sequences where you can't do much and it was boring, like the expo thing at the end of the game. I didn't care for those at all, it was like the MJ/Miles sections from the first game.

I can't even remotely get to the point of accepting any wish.com knockoffs of established heroes in comics. Although it isn't like I've followed any characters that came after the 90s anyway.

I can't think of one character like that I even like.

X-23 was fine, I liked her when she was young.

Agent Venom was an interesting take, plus it made Flash Thompson a superhero.

Cosmic Ghost Rider is a fun take on Frank Castle, very comicbooky.

I don't mind sidekicks or the like. It's when it's a new person under the same name I find irritating.

New Pokemon Snap - 8/10. Cute, fun and looks way better then the other console Pokemon games. At least I can relax while playing it.
