Especially Terminator. Alien is such an oddball since I think its decline started so much earlier and I can't recall people saying much on its sequels. People tell me at least Arnold in Terminator 3 and beyond is fun, which is why they particularly don't like Salvation.

Terminator 3 was the last good one. Alien has been the only franchise of the three to remain enjoyable, even despite Alien Resurrection.

Predator was at least still pretty damn decent, until AvP2. And then Predators got things back on track—only for Shane Black to FUCK it all up eight years later.

I wasn't that big into Predator so I don't know much on it. For Alien, I found 1 and 2 pretty great but 3 beyond were all sorts of bad personally. I think Terminator 3 is good but you can see the seeds being planted for the downfall of the franchise. I feel that if you take Arnold out of 3, you get what is probably a bad-to-meh film.

I just want old Dutch to fight a Predator. That’s all I want to see. Finish up the Alien Prequel films, as there was one left, and call it a day for a few decades—at least. As for Terminator... put a bullet in its head.

Let it all die in an inferno of hate and we'll be fine.
Poor Terminator though. My parents and their siblings love the franchise, actually seeing it in theaters or getting it on release day on DVD. My mother in particular adores the first two - to the point of where she didn't care about the gore and showed it to me as pre-schooler lmao - but refuses to talk about the sequels. She was onto something...

There was hope for Predator, until Shane’s atrocity. Terminator has been thoroughly gutted though. Alien, I’ll argue, is actually salvageable. Not as a horror franchise, per se.

What even happened with Shane Black? I remembered seeing I think his first pre-MCU film with RDJ and it looked ok. After Iron Man 3, he took a nose dive.
If Alien went back to its horror roots, I can see it doing well critically but not financially. Just due to how people view things today.

He directed Iron Man 3, right? Makes sense... it’s one of my least favorite MCU films. It’s up there with Captain Marvel. I would say they’re my bottom two. Even Black Panther isn’t as bad as those two films and Killmonger is a DOGSHIT villain, holy hell.

He did Iron Man 3, yeah. I could tell something was off when it felt completely different from not just the first two Iron Man films but every other MCU film by that point. And not in a good way. At least Iron Man 3 is funny (not intentionally at times though) so I can watch that.

I always thought Predators is grossly overrated, it really is disgusting how overrated it is. But The Predator completely destroyed the future of the franchise

If anyone gets to work on this franchise again I hope they are sensible enough to consider anything post Predator 2 not canon

I mean, it doesn’t really matter if Predators is or isn’t canon. Royce and Isabelle are probably dead anyway. Super Predators are most certainly canon at this point though. It’s just a matter of what they’ll look like in future films, should they decide to use them again.

Anyway, while I do not think Predators is perfect, by any means—it’s clearly the best thing the franchise has done since Predator 2. It was a love letter to the original. My only real complaint were some of the characters and their actions. Noland being one of the worst offenders.

That whole scene where he sabotages them was so ill-thought-out, for someone who survived ten seasons (which I’m assuming is at least five or six years, maybe more) on that planet. He runs off and leaves his gear after knowing good and well the Predators are coming, after Royce shot the place up. And then, there’s Topher Grace. What a dogshit actor. I can’t stand anything the guy is in. He is completely unbelievable in the role and just comes off as a joke. And his stupid laughs the entire movie are idiotic.

So, my complaints are very minor, other than that. I do think the little Predator tussle was kinda goofy at times, but meh. It was believable enough.

For me its simple, Predators is nothing but fan fiction tier garbage. I won't waste time deconstructing it because it feels like a waste of time besides that sums it up perfectly, nothing but glorified fan fiction

That said, there is only one thing I do like about the film

Predator movies need more proper hand to hand combat

It’d give it about an 8, if it weren’t for Topher Grace. It’s about on par with Predator 2 in some ways. Clearly the first film is a solid 10.

Not even worth it to rate the AvP films, much less The Predator. Although, I did like the first AvP, to a point.

For me it's a 3/10

The first two points are out of pity and the last is because of that fight, I think Predator 2 is on a different league, like comparing high school football with the NFL, that movie established 80% of what predators are and what makes them cool

I did enjoy AvP a lot, I actually don't really get the hate it seems to get but I figure it probably triggers nerds who are in love with the comics. The only thing I really despise about it is the redesign of their faces. And I gotta admit, seeing crazy predator fans trying to justify the Grid Alien killing two predators with bullshit like, "oh they were just youngbloods" is a guilty pleasure for me, like yeah sure, they were inexperienced... it's not like the Alien was born literally hours before and had ZERO experience fighting right? the Alien was simply better but people can't accept it to this day

The Xenomorph are born lethal. They have inherited memories don’t they? Or at least, their instincts to fight and survive and learn are passed down? I can see the Grid taking Chopper by surprise, but Celtic? Nah dude. No way.

omg Topher Grace lol I swear he just kept playing the Eric Foreman role after That 70s Show in everything like Spider-Man 3. Not surprised in something like Predator, he'd be bad.

He’s an atrocious actor. I like him on That 70’s Show, but anything else... nope. Get him the fuck out of there.

Does he get miscast often? Unlike the other new faces in Spider-Man 3, he didn't fit Venom/Brock at all and he didn't make the role work either. Venom only worked when his face wasn't visible lol
