Exactly. No one gives a shit about a series showing what Alfred did before the Waynes died. It's something you allude to in throwaway lines or little acts he does in an actual Batman film. You don't waste time and money on and entire series no one will watch. I don't know why WB keeps making horrible decisions with their property.

Can't really decide based on just a trailer but as a DC fan (and it's too late to stop the show now!), I hope it will end up good. The only way this would work is if it deliberately DOES NOT cram as many Batman reference as they could with the usual "See that reference we just made? See? We know comic books too! Wink wink!" that's prevalent in many adaptations. Just let it be it's own show and tell it's own story story.
That's the exact problem I had with the season 1 of Gotham where they stuffed so many reference to please viewers that it ended up ruining the season. Thankfully they learned their lesson really quick.

The only Batman reference I wouldn't mind seeing is anything with Ra's and the League of Assassins. It'd make sense for him to be around disrupting shit. I don't want to see Joker's father or grandfather pop up in London.
I still cannot fathom the need to make this.
By the way, there's a rumor that Alfred will be a female in the new Batman film.
I heard. I don't know if I want this to get better or worse honestly. You would think that would be a no no given Alfred is a servant to a man.

I haven't seen Season 5 yet, is it any good? I loved the second season onward, and I think it's a fresh take on the lore with some really neat surprises. The actors playing Penguin, Riddler, Joker, Alfred deserve to be on a full blown Batman movie. Not a fan of Ben McKenzie and his constantly snarling Gordon though.
