I personally really like the MGS1 suit. Hopefully the LIMTOYS' is gonna be good.
I'd love an MGS1 figure but I highly doubt that we'll ever see it right away.
MGS2 design is the one Konami were forcing as the "iconic" one for years.
Heck, I'd expect MGS2 Raiden before MGS1 Snake.

My main concern would be it's pleather and will dry rot after 2 years.
Def not pleather. Most likely vinyl, like most of Medicom's suits. Hot Toys does vinyl suits as well, tho they're not that good.

Finally picked up the First 4 Figures Solid Snake statue for a BF sale. Fucking heavy as shit, but glad to have some proper Solid Snake back in my collection after originally selling off most of my merch. Gonna need pictures of it and a proper spot.

Regular edition, didn't think much of the exclusive. Not as big as I thought but still takes up a lot and in the best way. Hoping we get a Big Boss or Raiden but this is so cool for now.

I found Hot Toys Inferno Raiden for a little under MSRP, damn is it beautiful. Until I found that the paint was fading off. I'm not surprised since old pre diecast Iron Man figures suffered from this but jeeze. It was brand new too. Everything else works great.

So, does the BvS Wonder Woman. You basically have to repaint it. Which, isn’t that bad on Wonder Woman, but Iron Man and Raiden would be an undertaking, for sure.

Wow I'm kind of...less remorseful I sold my BvS Wonder Woman (or was it Justice League?). I guess plastic/PVC has this. My Iron Man Mark VII plastic has this but it took ages. I think I only noticed it in 2020 or 2021. I added in pics of Raiden to my post for reference.

The worst part is the plastic bags actually got the paint on the joints and non-red bits.

I bought the original Kotobukiya Batgirl for like $60 something and discovered the reason it was that cheap is because of the QC issues with the metallic gold paint. I tried painting it myself, but it looked terrible. One day, I’ll get around to breaking down the figure and trying to fix it.

First off, UV from sunlight and electric arcs, which is shorter in wavelength and in opposite end of the spectrum, does a lot more damage to red paint due to greater absorbtion. Second, soft plastics are hard to clear coat which means the paint isn't protected from UV.

My sector's "skirt" faded in less than half a year...

... while Cyrax's flat yellow still looks fine, tho it did fade a bit as well.

My MK shit is completely out of the sunlight. But I'll give it a look later.

was brand new sealed
Unless the box was stored in a dark place it doesn't really matter. Radiation couldn't give a fuck about some silly cardboard and translucent plastic.

Goes even harder for pleather, which will deteriorate even faster in a box due to the lack of moisture. Always moisturize your pleather, kids!

They just need to stop using pleather in all honesty. There are other ways to make things look like leather, if you don’t want to use some kind of real leather.

Yep, my Hot Toys Crow, Neo and T-800 are basically all fucked. As is my Star Ace Selene figure. Pretty sure my BvS Batman and TDKR Catwoman are flaking as well. And don’t get me started on the belts on various figures. Why do they insist on using this dogshit? How do you even fix these kinds of issues? Properly?

I would rather have inaccurate clothing material than pleather. If you’re not going to use material that lasts more than a few years… don’t fucking bother.

You find someone who does leather stuff, send him flaking originals, pay him a good buck and get what you should've been gettin in the box to begin with.

Absolutely. Denim is a decent leather replacer. Tho I'm sure toy manufacturers would just use the worst denim on the market which will deteriorate almost as quickly as pleather.

Well, Raven can make belts and such. But entire outfits? We shouldn’t even have to do that in the first place. Pleather is universally known for being dogshit. I’m going to sell off almost all of my figures that use pleather for more than just belts.
