So, I’ve been playing this since it came out. I tinkered around with various heroes—of the six currently out. In the beginning of the game, Kamala Khan is definitely the better character (due to her crowd control and healing skill), even when she’s just an AI partner. After playing with all six though, I’ve ended up on Iron Man, who was the sole reason I got this stupid ass game anyway.
Let me just say, this has been one of the worst launches for a game I’ve ever personally taken part in. Even Breakpoint wasn’t this goddamn bad. It took several patches to ruin that game further. The first big patch for this game has made it slightly more bearable.
It still has a long, long way to go, but if you stick with it, there is a fun game to be had here. However, you really do have to overcome a lot of hurdles to get to a point where this game is “fun.” You shouldn’t have to put in that much work and effort. That’s the game’s responsibility.
At the end of the day, I’m glad I got it for $50 on amazon way back when it first went up for pre-order. I already feel like I was ripped off by about ten or so extra dollars. This is a game you’ll want to wait till it’s on sale for $30, as that’s the sweet spot. Granted, they have to get to the finish line first. And do something about the absurd shop.
I’ll probably max out Thor and move on to something else, until some more characters are added. Gotham Knights is likely going to be the better option, for superhero team based games.
