You'll never get another Dinosaur film that made you feel what you did for JP. All the directors are hacks. Studios want the cheapest effects possible. And the "writers" are just aimed at remakes and weak action films. This was lightning in a bottle, and killed the genre just like Jaws.

I love watching the making of videos of Winston's team building all the puppet effects. I'd give a testicle to go back and in time and be on set with the full scale Rex. Even the on set videos of it of them rehearsing with it, it looks fucking awesome. That's true talent in effects making. The amount of time of them making the 1:1 mold for Rex would be scoffed at by a studio nowadays.

The 80s to the early 90s was the golden age of science fiction, where studios gave plenty of leeway to put out a product with such more effort and integrity. Now they want this shit out in a year or so.
