Fuckin A, we're going backwards. Consoles are done, I'm literally looking into PCs. I've been learning modding JWE and considering all I need is blender and cryengine. I'd rather learn to make my own AAA game.

Gaming studios are becoming just like Comics. Between Naughty Dog, Sony and now Xbox previews. This is the best they can offer? Fuck em, it's time for Spaghetti Gaming.

Everything currently on Xbox One (+One X) and PS4 (+Pro) shits all over every Xbox/PS2 and 360/PS3 game graphically. Now if you wanna talk about the new systems graphic capabilities compared to current gen graphics that's another story (it's not gonna be a huge jump TBH).

Right. But keep in mind, graphics for the current generation of games (and the next) are the best they've ever been. Still, I don't think we'll see a massive leap in graphics like NES/Sega Master System to Xbox/PS to eventually Xbox One (X)/PS4 (Pro) any time soon.

There's more horsepower sure, but there's nothing but incompetent engineers building the thing. There's no real talent or devotion to these products anymore. Late 90s to mid 00s still have many games that still hold up, and capture more immersion than anything I've played in the last ten years.

For example, I'd put Silent Hill 2 against any modern horror game and still think it's got something so much more captivating from the directing and visual flare than shit like RE7. It's hack to say but there was way more art in these things back then when they couldn't rely completely on how many pixels they can shit into a character model.

Yup. My biggest complaint with modern games is the whole push to make them movies/story driven. Games aren't movies. You're supposed to play them.. not passively watch them. It's gotten to the point where most game developers focus more on cut scenes and story than actually making sure their game is fun to play. I can still pop in Donkey Kong Kountry for the SNES and have more fun than most of the shit that's released nowadays.

The core problem is the industry has become too lucrative and these companies want these games done with minimal budget and the cheapest workers working 22 hour work days. I really believe the height of gaming was the late 90s. There were just so many directors back then they gave way too much of a shit to put out art instead of something to just make money. I often think of the first three Resident Evils. All three had different directors, more or less different from each other and they all can all be equal to each other in terms of their popularity. I think it has a lot to do with gaming going to 3D models and it really put a fire under their ass to really push the industry forward. That shit is long gone now.

There's no innovation anymore. There's nothing put in games to make you fucking feel anything. It's consume product, play our two hour game and then get excited for next products.

I can only play old games now since I'm so numb to the cash grab bullshit.
