I just don't know if that swarmer style of Tyson's would have worked on Foreman, a much younger and in his prime one at that. It's not necessarily a question if Tyson is a better athlete, boxer, or puncher than Foreman (which he arguably was) - it's just that stylistically Foreman is probably a horrible match up for him.
I see a lot of guys in boxing forums saying Tyson's crew kept Foreman away from him. Who really knows. As to them fighting, it's hard to say. I'm no expert, but from watching all his fights, it seems like if it's someone that's got a good amount of height on him and is at least as skilled as he is they can probably win. But the guys that did that (Holyfield and Lewis) went up against Mike far out of his prime. But to tell the truth, I don't think Mike hit his prime. He was crushing the competition in his early 20s. Him getting lazy and going to jail flushed his potential. Who knows where he would be in different circumstances.
Here's a interesting clip.
Seems the best thing to do with the taller guys is don't let him get inside and keep him at a distance with the jab. Holyfield said in an interview that Mike was like a rattlesnake, and you think he can't get you because he's small with a shorter arm, and then he gets you.
Douglas only won since Mike wasn't in perfect shape and was partying, according to Kevin Rooney. He said when they went to Japan when he was training him, no partying until after the fight. He knew he was going to lose since he saw he had a higher bodyfat in that fight. He also got knocked down in sparring prior to Douglas. Douglas's mother died before the fight too. It was a perfect storm for him to lose. He hardly even threw any punches through the rounds, like less than 20 jabs while Douglas is throwing out 3-4 times that.
