There's a glitch in MGS1 I'm trying to recreate from 20 years ago when I was a kid. In the nuke building bathroom... if you have stealth camo... I used to use an autofire controller and get the pissing guard to turn around and piss in my direction. I don't know how to replicate it. If you do it immediately behind the soldier on the opposite wall he'll turn around, but if you do it more north where the camera doesn't change, he'll just "HUH? HUH? HUH?" over and over. I've found another piss glitch but it wasn't this. I kinda remember doing it for like 20 minutes or something and he would just turn around. I've posted about it online before years ago but I forget my method.

I watched some cutscenes and played the final fight with Liquid terribly. I got the Big Boss rank like 15 years ago but I used Stealth and the Bandana.

This is a great breakdown of what Kojima truly is.

He makes a great point mentioned that every game after MGS is meant to subvert expectations of the gamers, and it's almost as if on purpose to get him out of the series and spite the fans... and they love him for it.

And fuck Kojima trying to say MPO wasn't canon... it's the only sequel to Snake Eater that felt like... it was part of Snake Eater. Much of the gameplay was recycled over into PW and V. RAXA was a great next step over the Shagohod, and still felt like it could of existed. But... we go from that to fucking Zeke in the matter of a couple years. As far as I'm concerned, PW and V aren't canon.

Sony is taking a huge gamble. I forgot the bloated mess of propaganda that was V... and it didn't do anything but confuse and frustrate people.

A very long and bloated breakdown of the mess that was MGS4, but he hits all the notes he should. How the pacing and the gameplay are terrible, the writing is terrible and Kojima can only recycle plot devices that were probably created by Fukishima.

I've been playing a lot of the old games lately, 1-4 and I recently beat MG2SS for the first time (holy shit is MGS1 just a recreation of it more or less with the game design) and I started 4 just yesterday... I've forgotten just how bad the game is. The overly stuffed sausage amount of cutscenes and bad dialogues, the uninspired set designs and dull gameplay. It's just a mess all around.

He also hits on the fakeout ending of MGS4 which I despise. Snake blowing the back of his headout got me, I thought it was a strong ending... but the fucking game was way too much about Big Boss and not Snake.

Snake is a far better, more interesting and developed character than Big Boss ever was. Snake Eater put a new face on him, but after MPO... his "legend" is completely destroyed.

I've seen that video before and it pretty much nailed it. I used to be a huge fanboy of MGS4, but it quickly lost it's luster after a few years and the game's contrived narrative rears it's ugly head quick. It WAS a mistake, it DID undo a lot of goodwill MGS1, 2, 3 established such as shitting all over the whole point of MGS2 and made the lovable supporting cast of MGS3 into the villains for no reason. I still enjoy the game as a guilty pleasure, and I think the graphics and sound are still top notch even today but other than that it was just an embarrassment that would continue on for a couple more games.

As for MG2SS, I'm glad you beat it and was trying not to spoil that the game was basically MGS1 and kinda makes MGS1 look a bit lazy in retrospect (but that's okay, because MGS1 is still awesome). It only means that MG2 was waaaay ahead of it's time for a 1990 game and Kojima felt many of the ideas were too good not to expose to a more broader audience with his 3D sequel.

Since you're on a MGS binge I would highly, HIGHLY recommend Ghost Babel, it's a sequel to MG2 SS and takes place before MGS2 and the gameplay is much sleeker than MG2SS. Fantastic game, great story and a kickass soundtrack. At times it felt more Metal Gear than most MGS games.

I owned GB years ago but sold it. It has no business being that good of a GBC game.

MGS is definitely MG2 redux but it takes all the tropes but improves upon them ten times over. I honestly feel MGS is the overall best experience in regards to immersion and takes itself seriously without being up its own ass like MGS4. MGS2 is the best in the series overall, the peak without a doubt. It takes the main character and puts him on a level of cool never replicated again in the series and no other gaming protagonist comes close. MGS3 plays the best but the plot is too in love with itself being in the 60s. It doesn’t hurt it in anyway but I find it almost distracting nowadays.

Yeah, I agree with that assessment, the reason MGS1, 2, and 3 are so great is because they all do their own thing.

I think you can emulate Ghost Babel easily. That and Acid2 are massively overlooked as top tier Metal Gear Games.

I just got the MGS4 Rex model kit for $46 shipped. Can’t believe I won the bid. I’ve never had this one but I’ve had the regular version but never took care of it.

I just beat MGS1 a couple of days ago (after I turned the same as as Snake was in that game!) and for the most part the game holds up really well. The only thing I hated was the Meryl ending, which was (and still is) unbearably cheesy. The Otacon ending was much better BUT he had to ruin it by that cringy speech he gave to Snake about his undying love, how American can't bomb the Otaku Jihad spirit and crap. God I forgot how awkward some of the cutscene writing could get.

I'm off to play MGS2 and 3 next, although my PS2 controller kinda doesn't like MGS3 so we'll see. I try to avoid the HD collection because preference. I wish I could record gameplay off the PS2 and upload them you Youtube for personal preservation.

I just got the Revoltech Venom Snake (sneaking suit) and he’s pretty nice, even despite the funky shoulders and the weird eye gimmick.

Speaking of which, that’s literally the only thing missing from it—the tool for moving the eye. Even though I got a great deal on it, that kinda sucks. I have no idea what to use in place of it, besides a bent toothpick.

The metal lead sleeve on a 0.5mm mechanical pencil works pretty well.

It's quite incredible to find someone on YT that says exactly what you yourself have been saying for four fucking years about a game.

The first decent Quiet, but this needed to come out 3 years ago.
